Spring training starts in less then a month. I am so stoked. I love football and my 'skins...but damn I love my baseball. I can't wait till April.

I'm with you. NOTHING compares to football for me. However, once the SB is over, I love me some spring training and early-season baseball.

I'm optimistic for this year too...I think we can get to .500 this year.

I like October baseball better too.

However, I get excited for the beginning of the season and then lose interest by July until the playoffs.

Not me I look forward to the O's upcoming season and will watch a majority of the games as usual. Gonna be nice to see some good players on the field and also wil be interesting watching the young prospects pitch.

Good point jaxskins...we have more reason to be excited this year than we have since 1998....

Yes, I assumed our 98 team would be just as good as the 97 team...

hell yeah, with this years team I will actually make a few more trips up to the yard. Definitely going to every home game vs. the Angels so I can heckle the **** out of Guerrero.

F%&* the Orioles and the joke of a franchise that it is.

Joke of a franchise?
I'm assuming that you're either a bitter ex or fairweather fan, a yankee bandwagoneer, or just somebody who believes that MLB isn't giving DC a team becuase of the Orioles.

Actually none of the above, I am a Phillies fan! Are you trying to tell me that over the last 7 years that team hasnt become the Milwaukee Brewers of the AL. The only reason Angelos is beefing up the lineup is to sell the team! Therefore raise the team's value. I hope you already realize this, all of the contracts of the new acquisitions are backloaded w/ big payouts down the road, so that means that Peter wont have to worry about this because the team will be sold and it will be somebody else's problem. He has turned a once proud franchise into a doormat and thus a joke! Enjoy!

Phillies fan?? Dang I'm sorry. By the way how can you be a redskins fan and root for a team that resides in philly? I think you may be Bi-polar and just haven't come to this realization.

The Orioles had to wait out the huge contracts of other players as well as rebuild from the ground up. When players like Jack Cust, Jay Gibbons, Brian Roberts, etc are all stars, we'll see what you have to say.

I'll leave you with these two words: Joe Carter.

Oh, and as for dormat of the AL, other teams were worse then the Orioles last year: Texas, Cleveland, Detroit (THE dormat of all), and Tampa Bay.

I'm glad to see there are true O's fans out there who love the Redskins as well. I love both and i live in Charlotte, NC. I think the moves that the O's made this offseason show that they are ready to start contending again. With alot of the moves that the Red Sux and Yankees made, its not going to be easy even to be a wild card contender, but you'll see more wins, and huge leaps in development of all our promising young players. And as far as contracts being backloaded, that stuff doesn't matter as much in baseball as it does in football or basketball, as long as the owner puts money into the team. :dallasuck

yeah, youre right im bi-polar... i get treatment 3X a day. What are you sorry about? When's the last time the Orioles had even close to a winning season? I guess you are suggesting that the Orioles are going to be better off this year than the Phils?! Yeah right, you got me on that...Baseball and Football are completely different worlds...check the folks on this board - i guarantee you that 50% (atleast) have favorite teams in other sports from other cities...So I guess Im supposed to follow a team from Baltimore!!!! - thats what your saying more or less!!! The last time i checked Philly/Balt. were both our enemies when it comes to football. I have fam/friends in Philly and grew accustomed to following them in the summers of childhood because that is what i was exposed to. There was not a team in DC to follow and I have never had ties to Balt. enjoy!!!!!!:hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

No way they will even be w/in 10 games of the Phils this year- get real... Do you realize that their FA acquistions dont pitch! Those FA acquitions are just window dressing for the forthcoming sale of the team, watch you will realize what is going on.......:shot:

No your right they don't pitch but the O's do have alot of talent (although unproven at the mlb level) at pitching. They have a bunch of young arms that will make the roster and will flourish. Proven vets don't always improve pitching and every year a young arm or 2 comes out of nowhere to be a dominate pitcher. I believe we have 1 or 2 of those this coming year and our team ERA will be better than it has been in years.

As far as the sale I don't beleve that he is ready to sell but I wouldn't really mind if he did because some of his aquisitions in the past have been downright awful.

This team is heading in the right direction and I'm excited for that reason.

As an Orioles fan, the Phillies will be a much better team this year, and probably go deep in the playoffs...Where the city of Philadelphia can chant their mighty war cry (as bang put it) "At least we got there"

Im going to be in the city of brotherly love tonight and i will give you an update on what the ruins of the vet look like as well as the new home of the Phillies.

i'll give you that much, the Phillies will probably be better than the O's this season, but you can't say the Phillies have had more success than the O's have in the last 10 years. the O's have been to 2 ALCS, the Phillies 1 NLCS (and that was in '93). the Phillies haven't even been in the playoffs since the introduction of the Divisional series! and do we have to go back to 1983...

The last time I checked the year was 2004, so if you want to turn back the clock then your really reaching for something to be excited about that was over 20 years ago. Whooooopty doooooo.... The Phillies killed the Pigeons last year and will kill them again this year. How many last place finishes in a row??? Get back to me when you guys can muster up a winning season...

It's hard thinking anyone will win the World Series but the Yankees. They do have to play the games but the Yankees look very strong with A-Rod.

the point of my post was not necessarily to trash on the Phillies, just to point out that neither has had any more success than the other over the last 10 years. besides, the O's haven't been in last place, they have been in 4th place. at last check that is only one or two places less than the Phillies are always behind the Braves!

the question isn't are we better then the phillies..the question is are we better then teh blue jays to get to third in teh AL east..atleast its a start...a possible cataylist to future oriole teams. You think the O's tried to go big this offseason..they'll make an even bigger splash next year...i'd b pleased fi the o's get to 500...i mean w/ the lineup they have..they definately will pull out more wins then they have had in the last 5 yrs

Ok, well they finished ahead of the Devil Jokes for 27 straight years - wow big deal...if you consider that TB team more than a AA franchise than your kidding yourself. The point is that the Phillies have been better than the Orioles for the last few years in a row. Its sad but last year at Camden Yards for the Phillies games I was at 2 of them and 75% of the fans were Phillies fans...hopefully you guys will have a big turn out at the new Citizens Bank Park (yeah right).

I'm probably going up to philly around the 4th of july to watch the orioles and see the new stadium. I heard it looks weird.
