You finally get an ACC Title (even Virginia has one of those) and you want want to post a picture of a little kid crying. Which is better I suppose than throwing a bottle of water at a parent of a Duke player's parent after a home loss but not by much. But then you fail to reach the sweet sixteen and boom!...everybody disappears. Where did you go Blitz? Maybe you could find a picture of some little girl crying now? Maybe not. Have a nice vacation. See ya next year.

Shouldn't this be in Tailgate? I'm yawning reading about anything to do with college basketball. :D

It's kind of sad but I used to be a huge March Madness guy. WHen I was little, I was a big G-town fan(and Michigan was second since I hadn't seen them play until I was bit older) and I'd watch even the regular season games.
The talent level was so high, and it was about just balling. Now, it's let's swing it around for a three point shot and let's hope we can have 1 or 2 guys stay for 2-3 years.

Wrong forum, but I'll comment anyways before it gets moved.
I'll take this opportunity to congratulate the many Maryland fans we have on this board for a job well done in the ACC tournament. Fact of the matter is that it may have taken alot out of the team both physically and emotionally. They showed alot of character coming back from 16 down against the 'Cuse and made my heart skip a few beats down there in the final minute. This is a young team who has alot to look forward to next season. Keep your heads up and be proud of what you accomplished.
Go 'Cuse!

You know, the funny thing is, I'm not taking anything away from what Duke has accomplished. Hands down, they have been the best team in the ACC and often the best team in the NCAA for many years. I can't argue with that, it's just nice as a MD fan to finally win one for a change.
What really got me wound up tight was that Duhon was running around before the game holding up 6 fingers, as if to say #6 in a row was locked up. If he hadn't been so premature with his prediction - I probably wouldn't have found so much humor in seeing them lose.

Thanks, but no thanks. One or a thousand posts, thats not the point. Heres the point. Act like you've been there before. After all, you've won a national championship. For too long Maryland fans, in general, no one in particular, have been a little, shall we say, crass. F-U JJ, for instance. Why else would the media, the school president, the coach and others call them out on it. To call for a picture of a little kid crying is a little beyond. We adults are supposed to be able to handle it. Root for your team, congratulate them on a hell of a great season for a very young team, and a sensational win over a very strong Duke team on what amounts to almost a home venue for Duke, and move on. No doubt, you'll be back next year.

The best ones are about Duhon's mom and Shavlik Randolph.

Duke is the best school for basketball in the nation.
Period.
But I hate em.
And... you're incorrect in another thing. UMD has won an ACC title before.
We just got a kick out of that kid, because like it or not, we all knew that this team in our heart of hearts was not going to go far in this tournament. They have a lot of promise, but are still very young. The youngest in the ACC. But they have also shown a lot of promise for the years to come.

The bottom line is this, I think you are being a bit sensitive. I found some humor in the picture and wanted to show it to my father in law. I remembered seeing it posted here and knew that I could find it quicker than doing a google search.
It's not a personal attack against you or Duke. If you knew me, you would know that. But all you have to go by is a few harmless comments that were posted among FRIENDS, I repeat FRIENDS, on this message board. I didn't lurk on a Duke Fans Forum and go looking for trouble with cheap shot posts.
I would have laughed at the photo if it had been a kid rooting for the University of Arkansas Little Rock. The S**t was funny!
Hell, as I kid I can remember one of the funniest things I saw watching an NCAA tournament was Elden Campbell rolling around on the floor at halfcourt crying after Clemson got upset by a lower seed in the first round. My friends and I laughed our butts off.
Look, I'm sorry that the kid happened to have on a Blue Devils jersey and that your sensitive about the loss. If it makes you feel any better I'll be betting on them to cover the spread for the rest of the tournament and we'll both be happy when it's all said and done.
Love, peace and hair grease.

One last thing. A quote from the Washington Post's Tom Boswell.
"Three weeks ago, Duke's perpetually arrogant fans chanted, "Not our rival," as the Blue Devils beat Maryland by 23 points.
On Sunday, Maryland's team of kids -- with five freshmen and four sophomores -- stuffed those words back down the throat of a powerhouse Duke team that deeply wanted to win its sixth straight ACC tournament. Oh, the Blue Devils have a rival now, whether they like it or not. Its name is Maryland. "

Yeah -- Boswell didn't get it. The point is that Terps fans seem to get awfully agitated about Duke, and Duke fans are not particularly agitated about Maryland. North Carolina is Duke's rival (in its heart and its history). Maryland is not. Maryland is infatuated with Duke to the point of profanity. The reverse is not true. It has nothing to do with ability or playing skill.
OK, having said that I am going to make one trash-talk observation just to further prove that point and then a serious, sportsman-like, ExtremeSkins observation.
Trash-talk observation: no one outside of this area cares that Maryland lost. Look on ESPN's front page: Duke wins. Check. Stanford loses. Check. Gonzaga loses. Check. *Carolina* loses. Check. Is Maryland there? Yawn.
Serious observation: I agree with Wilbon, though, that the Terps have shown an awful lot of guts this year and deserve a lot of praise for it. From the ACC Tournament win to the big comeback that fell short today, they showed a lot of toughness and guts -- frankly Duke hasn't shown that kind of toughness this year when it has needed to. Props for that. Good showing despite a tough season. The league should be great next year with Carolina improving and the Terps maturing again.

Forget Duke:puke. Syracuse is a pretty descent team and frankly, they were my sleeper team. Eventhough Carmello left, Warrcik is picking up the pieces and Syracuse may surpise alot of people. Also, Jim Boehim is a helluva coach IMO.
Speaking of the thrill. Yes! I'm a big Maryland and Gtown fan as well. But the thrill has been taken outta the NCAA tourneys somewhat. All the dominant players keep jumping to the NBA and come draft day theres not a helluva lot of talent to build on.
Stop the Madness...

look...UMD hasn't established the track record Duke has in B-ball. that's a credible point. but unlike the joke that Duke is in football, the UMD b-ball team is continually improving and has won a recent national championship. I'll take the overall UMD sports program over Duke's any day. as for the preference for NC teams - who cares? The final word has been spoken on this and the conference is being restructured to support the real money generator....football....traditional rivalries be *amned!!
btw...when everything is said and done....were we to list the greatest ACC b-ball team...it wouldn't be a duke team. it would be ncstate or a deam smith team.

really sounds like a bunch of sour grapes.
from an outsiders view its looked like lately that the Terps are always getting jobbed by Duke and then they celebrate the hell out of it when they do beat them.

The four teams from North Carolina have won it 43 times. Duke had claimed it a record five straight before yesterday. Duke star guard Chris Duhon had raised six fingers after the Blue Devils' semifinal win, which drew the ire of the Terps.
"If he wants to hold up six fingers when he only has five, he's never going to have a chance to do that again," said Maryland sophomore Nik Caner-Medley. "Don't count your chickens before they hatch."

terp fans.....idle back fellas........
who cares what some dukie thinks? you're falling for the bait. guarantee you Coach K worries about the Terps when they play.
We won't mention, btw, that of the two schools, UMD is the more recent NCAA Champion.
If they win this time around....good on em and good on the conference. either way, I don't really care what Duke does.
Outside of b-ball Duke is an embarrassment to collegiate athletics.....ooops...how did that slip out?!!!!

i understand your point, but it still pisses us off anytime a stupid dookie opens up their mouth about how we are. they get all the calls and everything always seems to go their way. now it seems as if people around the country are calling coack K out on his bullying of the refs, we should see some change.

Duke can try and ignore Maryland but after beating them with this roster in the ACC Final and everyone except one player returning...Duke better get used to losing to Maryland.

Oh Duke Duke Duke.
You all are great at basketball yes, you are good this year and will be good next year too! Way to go. But your picking your fights wayyy too early right now my friends.
You people are on this site just taunting us Carolina and Terps fans. But when you look at our teams we are going to be very very good next year, very good.
Felton, McCants (lead ACC in scoring), and May, were all sophmores and return for Carolina. To go along with that Carolina has 2 of the top 12 playing in the country coming in, which will give them depth, which is the only reason we lost as many games as we did this year! Also we will be bringing back Scott, Williams, Manuel, Noel, well actually, we are brining back just about everyone except maybe one or two guys who didnt play anyways. We almost beat you both times without any help from our bench! What are you going to do next year when we have that help!?!!?! And your 40 year old star Chris Duhon is gone. Who's going to creat those open looks for Reddick that he cant get for himself, which is why he's been so bad lately except against Setan Hall b/c they played a soft zone early on.
And Maryland as well, is bringing back almost their entire team.
So you all are gonna take some losses next year, you wont be the best in the ACC.
GO HEELS!!!!

As a Terp fan not "Twerp as you so called Duke fans like to say" I respect the program Duke has and the way they aways have a competitive team. Now the reason I hate them so much is not because they are king of the ACC its because of the character of players they always seem to get. There is always at least one cocky player on a Duke team that just makes me want to punch his lights out and whats with the floor smaking crap does every point guard Duke ever had have to do this every year? Looks rather retarded to me.
