Great win to start the season. Sydney looked great, and Javy homered. Hopefully, all the new O's and the new manager, Lee Mazzilli will amount to a pretty competitive season for us. I'm definately excited, can't wait to go to a game.

The strategy last night for Ponson was to pitch most batters inside. If they hit it then they would pull it foul. He was a little wild, but given the cold temps and wind it was hard to be sharp.
Welcome to Baltimore, Javy! FIRST PITCH!

That was a great first game. Pretty much a "best-case" game for the O's in my opinion. They got a decent start, good bullpen support, and their new stars went 7-11 and drove in 4 runs.
I think there are going to be some lean times this year for Baltimore but I loved that they could start out like this vs. the Sox and Pedro (though they tend to look good on opening day a lot lately no matter who they're facing).
Let's hope it's the start of a trend, however I'm not getting my hopes up yet! Go O's!

Until Washington gets a team, I must follow the Os, and they looked pretty good last night. I still don't think they have the pitchers to be real contenders.
But they looked good last night.

Game was great. It was awsome to watch the birds play with confidence again.
Anyone know what happened to Roberts after he got caught stealing? I saw him go back to the clubhouse with a trainer and he was replaced on the filed but nothing was ever said.

Wife and I went, seats on the lower level third base line. Great game. Very cold, felt more like football game weather. I always wear my Yankee gear to Camden (especially fun when the Sox are in town), but I root for the O's to beat everyone but the Yanks.

the wind really affected this game hitting and pitching wise, but Ponson was keeping everything down and letting his defense do the work. Tejada may be the best FA signing EVER by baltimore. outstanding defense, and a few hit and runs. Mazzilli is the MAN

I think it would be funny to take a snapshot of this thread today. Just incase the O's become the 4th place team they've been for the past 6 years, it would be funny to read some of these comments in August.

The season rests strickly upon the shoulders of these young pitchers in the rotation. Our offense is going to be a lot for these pitchers in the AL to handle and should be fun to watch. Im afraid that even if the staff comes out strong in the month of April, teams will have a more developed scouting report on them and will be more vulnerable. But, non the less a great first game and definetly looking forward to watching the birds this summer! GO O'S!!!!!!!!

all of you who got to watch the game are friggin' lucky.
i had to work, so i was hoping i could break at 8pm to see the first inning or two. luckily i got that and went to the break room and you know what... they weren't watching the goddamn game! and i live in Red Sox country. they wanted to watch the stupid UCONN chicks game... and that wasn't even on for 1hr!!! they prefered to watch HALFTIME of the first game instead of opening day Sox-O's!! watch a bunch of malarky! i was royally pissed! bunch of queers i say.

I don't know much about the O's this season...but being from CT and a down on his luck Mets fan....I can say please beat Boston and the Tanks into the ground as often as possible.

Roberts wasn't replaced on the field, he came up to bat in the 8th inning. Probably jammed his finger pretty good.
