I'm pretty darn sick of Angelos claiming the DC market makes up 40% of his gate revenue. If 40% of his fans are dedicated enough to make a MINIMUM 2 HOUR ROUND TRIP to see the O's...then instead of working so hard to keep a team out of Washington, maybe he should simply move the team to his precious Washington market. what do you guys think?

let the Balti-MORONS have their own team....I've been waiting for the return of the Senators/Astros/Expos for 33 years and will not patronize any Baltimore team....come on Fred Malek, we need you to come through on this one!

The beltways of Baltimore and Washington are a mere 27 miles from eachother. Their suburbs almost connect! Does it make sense to weaken one franchise by moving another 37 (looked up on mapquest) miles away?

The Washington Wizards moved from Baltimore and Baltimore has tried to get another NBA franchise. has it? no, the NBA said that they are too close. An NBA size centre plays in a venue of 15-20 thousand for 41 home games. MLB is a 30-60 Thousand seat venue for 81 home games.

I also don't get the animosity between people in Washington and Baltimore. I've lived in College Park, DC, VA and right now I go to college in Baltimore...and people aren't that different. I know that people can be very protective of their own cities identity as 'Washingtonians' rather than driving 40 minutes north and watch THEIR baseball team.

I grew up in College Park with the Orioles being the only baseball team in town. I became an orioles fan. If the new Senators come to DC, I'll be a fan of them too, but when they play I'll be there in Black in Orange.
It's similiar with the Ravens. So many people in washington HATE them. Why? The Skins were the only game in town. I don't resent Baltimore getting a new franchise; if anything, I hope they go to the superbowl too...With the SKINS winning, of course.

if you look at the attendance figure when there were two franchises in the area, you would see that angelos if full of ****e. look what happened when the senators left...

The Orioles were a good team in the very late sixties and early 70's while the Senators weren't fielding good teams. The Senators were no competition then. But in a new ballpark and a 'new' team 37 miles away from each other and you'll see a big difference in attendance.

DC should have a team. It's the nations capitol. It should have a team in every professional sports league in the US.

Yeah I feel pretty much the same way. I was born and grew up in Rockville, a Skins fan through and through. Then when I was 18 I went to college in Baltimore (just graduated 1 year ago). I never cared that Baltimore got the Ravens - didn't really care one way or the other. I certainly like them better than the Eagles, Cowboys, Giants, etc.

BUT, having spent the past 5 years in Baltimore and listening to Baltimore sports radio all day (nothing else on to listen to), I will tell you that in general the Baltimore sports media HATES the Skins. Indeed, the hate the Skins far more than any of their own rivals (Steelers, Browns and Bengals a bit). They can't stand us and take every opporunity to take cheap unfounded jabs. Its amazing how emotional some of these guys get about it. What's worse is they think there's some kind of feud or something between our teams. They are desperate for that kind of drama. They don't understand that we just simply don't care about them.

I shall remain loyal to the teams I've had while growing up. For me its the Skins without a doubt, and the Orioles for baseball. Since I consider myself a transplanted Washingtonian, I'll route for any DC baseball team too, but with a slight edge for the O's. I actually don't mind the Ravens much - I like their team, style, and the fact that they are a local team. What I hate is the immaturity of many of the fans and sports media.

If those of you who live north of Baltimore want to see what its like for Northern Virginia baseball fans to go to Baltimore on a weekday, to see the Phillys on a weeknight. Those of you who live in Maryland view the Orioles with a completely different perspective from those of us from Virginia. For us to go to a game, we typically need to leave work a little early, and PRAY the traffic isn't that bad.
