It seems like the O's have found someone who can give them some quality starts. Does anyone know anything about this guy? I know it's only been two starts but he's been great in both.

On the other side of the coin you have Ainsworth who has struggled to make it through 3 or 4 innings and he was considered a great prospect.

Cabrrera was never seen as a great prospect..he was behind Lowen, maine and Bautista on the SP chart. But his 6-7 frame is Randy Johnson-like (for a righty) and he's THROWING STRIKES and taking advantage of the fact that nobody's seen him. I hope he keeps it up.

You see this a lot with young guys coming up. Jose Mercedes and Josh Towers both had great rookie years, but didn't do much after. Hopefully, Cabrera is different. Hitters don't know how he pitches. It's usually his second time facing a team that is the true test.

Good point guys...I'm just figuring that one or two of our young pitchers has to be legit at some point.

Plus, for the here and now, who cares what he does next year...he's giving Mazzili some quality starts. I'm liking it so far!

For the sake of the team and us fans I hope he is the real deal. At the moment I just can't shake the idea that he might be another Rodrigo Lopez from two years ago.

Cabrera has been great in his first two starts and I don't want to get too far ahead, but I sure would love if he could have a dontrell willis type year.

Cabrera is one of only good things to happen to the O's minor league system in the last five years. They signed this kid from a dominican league for nothing and he has been proving himself ever since. He works hard and has good stuff for a 21 year old with very little experience with organized ball.

BTW, I hate the fact that the O's AAA team is in Canada now. thanks angelos.
