like they should just dump Jose Leon and Robert Machado, they both suck. Maybe they've been good in AA or AAA, but they have proven over and over again they are not fit for the majors.

No u are absolutely wrong. The 2 players needed to be cut from the team are Luis Lopez and Dave Borkowski. Borkowski has had horrible #'s in every minor league season including this year. Wow 1 good start, still, i dont care who you are, you do not become a quality major league pitcher just like that without the numbers in the minors to back it up. Even players like Josh Towers and Ryan Minor who were has-beens after a few months in the majors had solid minor league seasons before their brief success. Luis Lopez.....Never been anything more then a utility infielder, and that was when he was good. Now hes on the wrong side of 30 and his skills, well what skills he had, have been declining. In his prime he was a .240/.330/.350 hitter, which is below average for a utility infielder. So why is he starting at 3b on some occasions and playing more frequently then Jose Leon(only 27, just raking at AAA before being called up). Many more reasons to doubt Mazzilli and the front Office's competence besides these, but these are some glaring examples.

Well im not talking about the long run, But for now i can see why they are keeping Luis Lopez and Borkowski (Lopez is at least hitting some balls, and Bork had one good outing and deserves another shot). What i dont get is, why are Leon and Machado allowed to get AB's when they can't hit, even Tim Raines Jr. is hitting better than those two busts. I do agree with you on some level about the Minors, but its what you do in the majors that solidifies your position on the team, not what you've accomplished in the minors. You can hit .500 in the minors for all i care, but when you get called up and can't hit for poop, they should send you arse back down. And as far as i'm concerned, Jose Leon in my book has proven to be ineffecient at the plate. I can see why they're keeping Machado, to keep Javy from getting exhausted, but Huckaby needs more time behind the plate, so he can prove himself.

When you are constantly getting demoted from the majors after only getting a handful of AB, like Leon, its hard to assert yourself. They havent given him a shot yet, and he was on a tear in AAA(Over .300 BA, over .1000 ops) so lets see if he can hit a little. Tim Raines is a bum. That is all that needs to be said. Tim Raines is a bum.

Leon and Raines are the equivalent to camp fodder. The less they have to play, the better. The organization sees them as expebdible as they have better prospects in AA and AAA who need to get at-bats everyday.
