Braves On Warpath

The board will have its second annual mock draft here in the next month or so. Right now we need some GM's for each of the 32 teams. If you are interested, please state what team you would like to draft for and perhaps a little blurb on your knowledge of that team.

The honor of picking for the Skins goes to our glorious board owner and operator, Blade.

Columbus, OH is a hot bed for Browns news and many of my friends out here are Browns fans so I will pick for Cleveland.

Last year we only did a 3 round mock but this year I would like to do all 7 rounds. If you have any thoughts, suggestions, etc. on how the mock draft should be run, please feel free to post away.

We will likely wait untill after the compensitory picks are announced so each team will have a full complement of draft choices.

In the mean time, lets get the GM's set so you can start doing a little research on your teams needs etc.

This is what we have so far...

Houston - Buddah
Indy - Romo
Jax - The Chosen One
Tenn - Da Freak
Denver - SKIndiana
K.C. - Tay
Oakland - NavyDave
San Diego - Redskins HQ
Baltimore -
Pittsburgh -
Cinci - OrangeSkin
Cleveland - Braves On Warpath
Buffalo - Die Hard
Maimi - Om
New England - SPare
N.Y. I'll take the Jets or Giants, since I'm from the area and have a pretty good handle on the teams. Unless, of course, Tom would like his beloved G-Women. Then, I'll just take the Jets.

Do you guys work out trades too? or do you just draft straight up? just curious...

Always had a bit of a soft spot for the 'Fins and Packers, having followed them prior to finding my place in the world and going Skin back in 1970 ...

If that works, cool. If not, I'll just make myself available where needed.

And by all means, let's allow trades. BOW as Commish will have his hands full, but hey, that's why he makes the big money.

May I have the Texans? I promise to wheel and deal to make it interesting.

Trades are encouraged! The more wheeling and dealing the better IMHO. Keeps all the GM's on their toes!

After trying to do the picking for the Patriots last year and doing a horrible job at it (I think that I had them taking an OT), I would love to pick up the responsibility for the Super bowl champions again this year.

I think that I also had the Bills last year, but since Die Hard practically lives in Buffalo, I'll leave them to him this year.

i thought i had responded to this one but it must have gotten through.

i would like either buffalo or indy but as Spare said DieHard might want buffalo so I guess i will go for Indy.

Ive been following Indy for a while, ever since Peyton Manning went there and Mike Vanederjagt, he was the kicker for my Toronto Argos. I did another mock draft last year as Indy, so i know the team pretty well.

I'll take the Cowboys since I like JJ so much.

May I add I did the Colts last year and was 1 out of 3, but more like 2 out of 3, since I picked the right position, not the right player.

I know for sure 2 spots the cowpokes need help in, and the 3rd is a surgeon.

[ February 12, 2002, 12:57 AM: Message edited by: indyskinsfan ]

Ah SkIndiana, you dog! The Broncos are the only team besides the Skins I know a lot about. I reckon I'll take the Vikes. Now THERE'S a challenge.

Hey this oughta be fun!!

If you can trade players for picks with other GM's I'll take the Rams and get them another Lombardi trophy next year with my wheeling and dealing, cigar chomping, go for the jugular style.

If you can't trade players for picks I'll take the hopelessly inept Cardinals.

Boom or bust says I boom or bust!!

[ February 27, 2002, 10:45 PM: Message edited by: BallCoachSpurrier ]

This is sort of like Austrialian Rules Football: No rules!

You can trade picks for players, other picks, 12 packs of micro-brew (if someone is dumb enough to give you good beer for a pick in a Mock Draft i say: Thack advantage of that sucker!) whatever.

The point of the excercise is to have a good time!

I will do Green Bay if they are available still.... Otherwise I'll take the Cardinals. Otherwise I will do Carolina

Just editing this post. I post fairly regularly at the other board, and I check this board every day. Just haven't posted too much. But I will be here for the draft for sure... And Carolina is good with me

[ March 19, 2002, 02:15 PM: Message edited by: Gargantuan ]

BOTW if it's not too late could you switch me from the Rams to the Giants please???

After consideration I decided I knew much more about them than the Rams. Plus the Giants have the pick we (the skins) would have had, if Marty didn't win that last meaningless game.

I promise not to change again if you'll grant my humble request.

Thanks.

For what it's worth, my preference is to limit the draft to 2 (or 3 max) rounds like we did last year. Seemed to be work really well. Honestly, if we're going the full 7 rounds, they have yet to invent the instrument that could measure my indifference (and likeliness) to researching the late-round picks beyond throwing darts at the TSN board.

Obviously, if I'm in the minority here, I will in fact participate the whole way ... but my guess is I'm not alone in that thinking.

And for those wondering about the rules/guidelines & such, I'm hoping Braves on Warpath will give us a thumbnail version of the plan he used last year in the next few days. I thought it was excellent. Why mess with a good thing?

[ March 16, 2002, 04:55 PM: Message edited by: Om ]

I have to agree with OM here. My interest in the Packers draft isn't going to last much farther than the 3rd or 4th round.

If we all decide to carry on till the 7th then I'll be a good soldier and march.

Speaking of which, I think it would be a good idea if we got this thing underway soon or at least allow for trading to begin.
