I am an avid poker and black jack player, but I have been told time and time again that Craps is the game to play. So, I'm going up to AC this weekend for a bachelor party, and I plan to pop my Craps cherry (that just doesn't sound right  ). Any advice from some of you experienced Craps players?

Yes. Stay on the pass and come lines only. Max out your odds and dont have more than 3 numbers at any point in time.
DONT PLAY ANY OF THE OTHER BETS ON THE TABLE.

Thanks Kilmer, I heard about those bets before. I appreciate that link too, as I'm sure it will provide a lot of help. Oh, and when I make my millions this trip up to AC, I'll remember this and throw a little something your way

Try a little roulette too. It's pretty fun as well.

Craps is the only game in the casino where you can actually have better odds than the casino if you play it right.
I'll add a caveat to what I said earlier about sucker bets. IF IF IF the odds for hitting a hard 4 (2 and 2) is 10-1 or better, then it IS worthwhile to bet 5 bucks on it IF IF IF you have that as your point.

If you are not sure of how to bet, many of the casinos will provide you with instructions on how to bet and what kind of bets are available. Kilmer is giving you very good advice. Stay away from the bets other than the pass/come bets until you have significant experience under your belt.

Also, dont be afraid to talk to the "dealers" or stickman. They are always willing to help. But be nice to them and let some money play for them as well from time to time.

The only other thing I can say is make sure you know your table. There is nothing worse than playing the don't pass line and have everyone at the table giving you the stink eye. I have played craps at lot of places and you want to win and have a good time. Most tables understand that you aren't trying to jinx the shooter but sometimes it is better to walk away from a hostile table.

One of the reasons craps is such a fun game is that everyone at the table is winning (or losing) at the same time.

I agree this is the way to play. I bet pass line and the 3 numbers around the point. I just got back from Vegas and fell in love with roulette.
I am typically a cards player but got some advice on how to play roulette. Play 2 of the 12 bets on the side and pick a row to bet on, if you only hit in the 12 or in the row then you get your wager back (you lose nothing), if you hit the 12 and the row then you win double on those 2 blocks. So you bet 10 on each, you lose 10 for that one set of 12 but you win 40 total. So you'd turn 30 into 40. Its slow but once your up start betting numbers. I took $100 in vegas and turned it into $350 using this method, then bet numbers and turned that $350 into $1400.

Blackjack odds favor the casino. A very small margin. But it's still there.
Best thing to do with blackjack is find a full table closest to the cocktail bar. It will take longer to lose and you'll get more free drinks.

and find a table that doesn't have people taking stupid hits or sitting on ******* cards. having a player play correctly helps you figure out your odds. i give a table one mistake, after the second, i leave.

I believe BJ gives the house a 2-5% edge depending on the player's knowledge. However, if you can find a 2 deck game (only in Vegas, none in AC), and know how to properly count cards (which is illegal in Vegas but not in AC), then you can better those odds (down to about .5% edge for the house or less).[FONT=arial][FONT=arial][FONT=arial][FONT=arial]

there are a couple of casinos on freemont st. (in vegas for those of you that don't know) that have one deck shoes.

i dealt this game for 6 years, and now i supervise it, and ill tell ya, that the pass line and two come bets seems to be the best, but i also gotta say, the thing with come bets is the number has to hit twice for you to get paid, whereas placing the numbers, you get paid immediately (sp).
However, if you walk up to a game and there is already a point, you are better off placing the point instead of taking the pass line.
Here are some odds for ya:
Placing numbers:
6 and 8 pay 7-6
5 and 9 pay 7-5
4 and 10 pay 9-5 (but when you get to 20, your best be is to buy them)
Come Odds:
6 and 8, every 5 gets 6
5 and 9, pays 3-2, just like blackjack
4 and 10, pay 2-1.
Alot of casinos have adopted an odds system that reads like this. 3x on the 4 and 10, 4x on the 5 and 9, and 5x on the six and 8. Our casino, however,(and alot of others) still implies double odds. You got any other questions, just pm me, id be happy to help!!

Counting cards is not illegal anywhere. It might not be welcome. And they may ask you to leave. But it is not illegal.

True, I guess illegal is the wrong word to use. I guess they "frown" on it more in Vegas than they do in AC ;)
