I'm going to be buying XM in the very near future and I was wondering what the difference between the units were. I definitley want something I can take out and put in something else, so I guess I'm looking at the Delphi and the Roadie/roadie II. Are there any other units I'm missing (other than the myfi which is way out of the money I planned on spending on this). So, what are the differences in units or is it mainly cosmetic?

TIA

SkyFi will be going down in price and is as portable as they come. You can get a car cradle, a home cradle, or a Boombox. The new SkyFi 2 has more features and will fit in all of the original SkyFi cradles. SkyFi 2 will have a record feature and a stock/sports ticker. Comparing a SkyFi/2 to the MyFi, there is not much difference in total cost of equipment because the MyFi will come with a car cradle, a home cradle, and lots of other accessories. The portability will be hard to beat. MyFi also comes with 5 hours of recording time and the scrolling tickers. Go to http://www.xm411.com/phpbb/images/productgrid/productgrid.html for a side by side comparison of all the XM receivers.

Hmm...I didn't realize that the MyFi came w/ the car/home cradle. I'm still going to have a hard time dropping $300+ on this right away though, but I may consider it.

Hey just wanted to give you some advice. XM is horrible. My best friend had it for a week and was telling me it was cool and i should get it. I got Sirius and as soon as my friend was in my car next he was sayin he was gonna return XM and get Sirius.

Every time he went under a tree branch he lost the signal. With Sirius I get a signal in above ground parking garages and only lose the signal when im underground or occasionaly in certain spots but thats never more then a second or two.

Also u get NFL radio with every game and NFL talk all day 365. Plus, if ur into him, Howard Stern in 2006.

Just a suggestion

XM is definitely NOT horrible. As for the reception, both services have dropouts if you don't have "less than decent" views of the southern sky. I live in mountainous WV and droputs are rare....less than static that occurs with AM or FM. It is true that each service has it own benefits. Both have 100% commercial free music. XM and Sirius both have ESPN Radio and ESPNEWS. XM has FOX Sports Radio, Sporting News Radio, NASCAR Channel, NASCAR Channel 2 (in car scanner chatter), ACC/PAC-10/Big Ten football/mens and womens basketball, and starting in 2005 a 24/7/365 MLB channel plus every MLB game (over 2400 games) from Opening Day to the final out of the World Series plus some pre-season. Sirius has a 24/7/365 NFL Channel, home and away broadcasts of every NFL game (except the playoffs and Super Bowl this year), the NHL (are they playing?), Sports Byline USA, and several major colleges for football and mens/womens basketball. XM is $9.99 per month for one receiver. Additional receivers can be added for $6.99 a month. Opie & Anthony are $1.99 a month and Playboy is $2.99 a month. 2, 3, 4, and 5 year plans are available which can take the monthly subscription down to $8.33 a month. Sirius is $12.95 a month for one receiver. Pre-pay for a year and get one mothe free. Pre-pay for two years and get three months free. A "lifetime of the radio" subscription is $499.99 (special pricings ends 12-31-04). Additional receivers (up to three) are available for $6.99 a month. There seems to be alot of envy and rivalry between owners of one service versus the other and that is just silly. Unlike DirecTv (all of the premium sports packages) versus Dish (little to no sports), XM and Sirius each have their own unique benefits. I never miss a Redskins game, so Sirius is not a "need" for me. Whenever (years from now) they come out with a dual tuner, I'll have both.

I'm definitley getting XM. Sirius has the NFL, but quite frankly I don't ever plan on not being home whenever there is an NFL game being played :D

O&A are the nail in the coffin for me though. Stern hasn't made me laugh in years.

Come join the community at http://www.xm411.com and discuss O & A and everything XM. The owner of the site put together that XM tuner comparison and has an unmatched store.

my opinion, i would get xm, if you DON'T need the nfl, i have xm, and love it, i dont listen to the radio anymore, literally, it's either cd's, or xm. and most of the time, it's xm cause of their heavy metal channel, absolutely great music, some of which i've never heard before. That is my opinion, and as far as losing signal, i may have lost it twice for a split second, and that's it.

So, when does the MyFi come out? I'm feeling a tad impatient, is it going to be worth the wait for the MyFi (I heard December), or should I just get the SkyFi2?
