A mission

I am just here to announce that in the boring non football sunday's to come I will be undergoing a mission to find out who's killing the offense, on the field.

I know the problems may be very deep but the least I can do is see who's fault it is when drives stop.

I have taped every game and starting the first week of the offseason I will start my extensive mission to go through every single offensive series and record the play that killed each drive.

Whether it be a sack, an INT, an overthrow, penalty, missed assignment, drop, etc.........

I am starting a table with each offensive players name, they will get the X maked down for every drive killing play that happens.

Since we are just fans we do not have the luxury of knowing exactly what play is called or anything too deep like that, but this I figured is the least I could do to help us figure out whats going on.

I ask of you if there are any special things you would like me to look for during this mission. Something like how many times we run on 3rd and short or some kind of tendency like that.

Take a look at how back Portis is lined up at on plays when he successfully runs through the tackles VS where he starts at when he's not successful.

It's been my theory that he's much faster then the time it takes the O-Line to set up their blocks & thus the reason he's not breaking runs on any consitant basis.

Wow thanks a lot Skins26. I ask you a simple question, why don't portis's runs work? Which in all reality is a complex question. To make your studies even more accurate, Watch each run and mark if it is a loss, gain… ext. Please study why the plays do not work. Is it the blockers not blocking? Were there were available holes. Of course this is easier said then done, but I want to understand why Portis's runs don’t always work.

Maybe you could check out on the pass plays whether Gibbs is sending people deep and whether he is covered or not.

It's a lot to ask, but it could answer all the critics that say Gibbs is being too conservative.

I would like you to verify my theory that Gibbs has taken alot of the depper passing patterns out from earlier in the season. Also, I'm sure you'll be giving us a breakdown of Ramsey's performance.

Do me a personal favor and count the number of tackles Trotter makes on Portis behind the line of scrimmage.

If you could take a look at the blocking, i.e. who missed the block(s) on many failed plays. There were an awful lot of huge plays, interceptions due to pressure, fumbles returned for touchdowns, short yardage failures, etc. that seemed to be directly related to terrible or non-existent blocking, especially from the middle of the line.

Could you look at witch wide outs were open and did not get thrown to? Also is it really Ramer who gets bowled over screwing up our pass protection?

Interested to see how the backs/ H backs did in pass protection. Which ones were effective, which ones appeared that they were willing to take a shot to protect the QB. Who appeared to take a playoff if the play wasn't designed to get them the ball.
