View Full Version : From the Blitz-top 10 picks
brandies

http://www.nfldraftblitz.com/mock_draft.htm
1. San Francisco 49ers- Matt Leinart-QB-USC*
- The 49ers hope to find the future of the team with this pick. Luring the Heisman trophy winner upstate is a good start to rebuilding this franchise.
2. Cleveland Browns- Aaron Rodgers-QB-California*
- The Browns get lucky and move into the second spot with a Miami win. Jeff Garcia is done in Cleveland and the team cannot be happy with the play of Luke McCown. Rodgers gives them a smart quarterback with great tools for the future.
3. Tennessee Titans- Derrick Johnson-LB-Texas
- The Titans cannot believe that Johnson is still here and while they need help along the offensive line, they move to get this Pro Bowl caliber linebacker
4. Miami Dolphins- Marcus McNeill-OT-Auburn*
- The Dolphins were prepared to take any of the top three that fell to them, but instead will settle for McNeil. He’ll give them a bookend left tackle to help the new coaching staff get things together.
5. Arizona Cardinals- Antrel Rolle-CB-Miami(FL)
- The Cardinals find their man here in Rolle. Antrel will give Denny Green the big name defender he needs and the intimidating presence he lacks
6. Chicago Bears- Braylon Edwards-WR-Michigan
- The Bears once again add a young wide receiver to the team here with Edwards. Braylon proved to be the best wide receiver in the country this year and justified this high selection with his play in 2004.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Cedric Benson-RB-Texas
- Benson gives Tampa Bay the workhorse running back they have been looking for under Jon Gruden. With Chris Simms, Michael Clayton and Benson aboard, the Bucs are stocked for years to come.
8. Washington Redskins- Rod Wright-DT-Texas*
- As good as this defense has been, they could use another defensive tackle to shore up the run defense. Wright will bring his massive size and agility to the Washington front four.
9. San Diego Chargers (NYG)- Mike Williams-WR-USC*
- Some people seem to have forgotten about Williams, but we’ve heard reports of him running a 4.5 forty yard dash. If so, he’s a lock for the top 10. The Chargers couldn’t be happier.
10. Oakland Raiders- Carnell Williams-RB-Auburn
- The Raiders miss out on Mike Williams, but land Carnell. The Cadillac will give Oakland a great runner with elite vision and burst. He’ll be the man in the Raiders offense next season.

There is no chance in hell that we will draft defensive line in the first round.

I doubt, if we do go D-Line, we go with a DT. Our run D is awesome.

IF we go defensive line, we will almost positively go defensive end.
"Shore up the run defense"? Huh?

I don't quite understand why some of you guys are so dead set on drafting offense in the 1st round.... Cooley is proof positive that great players can be had in the later rounds....
If an impact player on D is available, why not draft D in the 1st then find a couple gems in the later rounds to grab up some depth for offense?
Our biggest team need right now is center. I can't stress it enough. Raymer is another teams dead weight that only got signed because he was the only thing out there. There is no way we go into next season with Raymer as the starting center. He is the weakest link on our oline. Even with jansen back in the line-up next year we are going to need a center and possibly a guard to replace Dockery unless Ray Brown evades father time somehow and comes back for another year. Then we can upgrade center, Jansen goes back to his usual spot and Brown can replace Dockery.
Another team need IMO would be a TE in the mold of say Doc Warren:D
There are no TE or C in this years draft that will go that high in the 1st round, so we can look to later rounds for those not to mention I feel that we can pick up a Center in free agency.
Yes, our defense was much improved this year, but our D is not a "REAL" top 5 defense because most of our pressure comes from blitzes or our lone warrior on the dline. Why not grab a gamebreaking DE in the first round, and really put our defense in a position to WIN games by getting to the QB more without all the blitzing....
The way I see our team right now our offense sucks so bad it may take more than just one off-season to get us back on track. Our defense is 1-2 decent players away from being a true #1 defense as long as Williams is here. A couple small tweaks there can put us over the top and into the playoffs even with our horrid O.

so rather then improve our next to last ranked offense, youd rather improve our already top 5 defense to a "Real" # 1 D.
so basically we'd have the same situation as this year except we have a "real" #1 D.
maybe i missed somehting but im just not seeing your logic

I didn't say to NOT improve our offense.
The last paragraph of my post didn't make any sense?
I feel our offense just needs more time in Gibbs sytem. I don't feel that one first rounder this year is somehow going to magically fix us.

I like going DT in the first round. Griffin is the only talent we have there. I love Noble and Saluavea, but they are both pluggers. The abilty to generate pass rush from the DT position is devastating and really limits the running option for guys like McNabb and Vick. A strong push in the center of the pocket also prevents the QB from stepping up, which will generate more sacks for the defensive ends. Plus, we got pretty good performances from unknown guys like Ron Warner and Clemmons - and we get Phillip Daniels healthy next year. If we go DE, I hope there is a trade down.
Just because we have had a top ranked defense this year doesn't mean we'll stay that way - look at what happened with Dallas this year. The Redskins presently do not have a single defensive lineman drafted by them - that has to change.
I think the offense has a lot of talent - they just need to get in synch. I also think we have a pretty solid receiving corps, though I'm worried about the Coles injury. Taylor Jacobs has looked pretty solid when he has had a chance to play - I would like to see him take on a larger role next year.

I wouldn't mind that, but like someone said our O line needs some work, hell it needs an overhaul. Maybe a nice 400ci Big block. That would do so much for the, open holes for Clinton and that in turn will open up the passing game. Then again, same deal, Mike Williams would be a huge threat and that would open up the running game. Hopefully our O line stays somewhat healthy.
Regardless, Joe knows what he needs to get this train moving. Have faith my brethern.

C & DE
I can't stress two positions even more. I trust Gibbs & Co. will figure out how to get two studs at both positions.

Unless we are looking at CB or LB in the first round or we win today and move down in the draft, I really dont think we will go defense. Just no one else is worth that high of a pick.

We might be drafting a replacement for Smoot or Samuels depending on what happens in their negotiations.
DT is probably the least likely pick in the first round. If we go defensive line it would be to add a pass rusher like Erasmus James or Kiwi.
I think the pick will either be CB, DE or WR in round one.
