I was reading some where last year that he could play tight end if he gained 15-20 pounds. If we could have this....this could be a sick tight end.

He won't be here next year

I doubt it would work b/c McCants isnt physical enough as a blocker...+ he is going to be dangled as trade bait, or just out right released...I think we should trade for whatever type of pick we can get not release and get nothing...

I doubt it... plus I like our tight end situation

I don't think he is physical enough

I hate out tight end situation. Cooley is an H back not really a tight end. We need someone who can go over the middle.

The TE/Hback hybrid position that Gibbs deploys hsa a lot of nuances... that Mcanats would need to learn. its not just run down the field and catch

Also gardner shouldnt be cut! He should be demoted to a 3rd WR. Then we pick up someone like Peter Warrick.

Thus giving us five #2/#3 Wide Receivers? (McCants, Thrash, Gardner, Jacobs, your guy)

I was high on McCants for a long time, but after reading about what he DOESN'T like to do............he doesn't like to practice, he doesn't like to lift in the offseason, he doesn't play special teams.............etc...................
Somebody should tell McCants that the NFL is not a country club for him to pick and choose what he does
There are guys who are STARS like Ray Lewis and even our own pro bowler in Marcus Washingotn that play special teams.
and this joker can't adapt himself to where he is?

McCants says he doesn't like to lift in the offseason? Jesus.....I didn't know it was that bad.

I think we will frop or trade, just one Reciever, the WRs will look the same next year.

Could Cartwight be an H-Back, If Sellers ggets cut for penelty reasons, well need a reserve H-Back, and I thought Rock would fit that position nice.

I disagree Panel.
With Ramsey now set to return and Jansen coming back as well, the Redskins will be 'improving from within' over the course of the offseason at QB and RT and that allows the staff and front office to be more flexible in addressing other areas.
If we were still looking for a starting qb or if Jansen's injury had turned out to be career-threatening then we would be in a different situation in addressing the WR and interior OL.
But as it is, I think there WILL be changes at WR.
I think two, Gardner and McCants, will be gone.

i was also high on mccants but he still has the college mindset and seems kinda spoiled , so i think he will be cut or traded or something and rightfully so , i also wouldnt mind seeing gardner gone and get a real number 2 receiver and let taylor jacobs excel , our defense is great once we get healthy will be nice , we need o-line help in the worst way so im anxious to see some o-line help coming in the offseason

Well I think we should wait till camp to cut him. He has to lose his spot on the team.

Unless he plays ST he might not see the field according to Gibbs.

I tend to agree but the fact that we gave McCants a contract extension last year has me thinking that he wont be.
If we take either Edwards or Williams in the 1st round, he's as good as gone tho.

I still think we will go with Williamson. Gibbs is all about speed this year with the new rule that will affect CBs. Williamson is the fastest WR in the draft and my thinking is that he will be our man in a trade down no lower than #15. I believe the Cowboys will go DF since theirs stunk the joint up last year.

Sellers isn't getting cut - he just signed a new three year contract.

It wouldn't work. You think McCants can block LB's? He'd be a liability, and teams would know we're passing if we put him in.

McCants as a tight end???
:stop: :stop: :stop:
:puke:
The only way McCants could stop a LB is if he made them fall over laughing at his weak Usher wanna-be music.

MCcants showed his rearend this year and Gibbs didn't find out about it until this year. It is ashame. He has alot of ability, but wants to do what he wants to do and not what the coaches ask. He is not a team player. Dude needs to be cut. IMO.

A 5'7 H-Back who has shown that catching the ball is not his strong suit?
No thank you, I think Rock is fine where he is.

McCants does nothing to solve our problems at tight end. We need someone who can take out a defensive end in run blocking and slow him down just a step in pass blocking.
What makes you think mccants can do either of these things?

McCants did play TE in college but I don't think he'll be doing it for the 'Skins.
He, or another receiver, may line up like a H-BAck at times, Thrash did it a little last season and in his first tenure, Gibbs used to love moving Monk around, sometimes lining him up at H-Back or even in the backfield..........it is more to create some confusion on the opposing D and maybe get a mismatch in coverage rather than a full time plan.

I believe Gibbs recently said something about a role for McCants on this team. I don't think we will cut him nor do I think we should. He does need an attitude adjustment though. McCants could be something special if he would just get with the program.
I don't think we will be drafting a WR unless Williams or Edwards falls to us at #9.
So our WR corps will be:
Moss, Patten, Jacobs, Thrash, McCants
Being that we have 2 aging CBs, I think we have to draft CB in the 1st round. I would trade down a couple of spots, pick up an extra pick and select Carlos Rogers from Auburn. There should be 2 or 3 attractive players to use as bait at pick 9 now that both QBs had great workouts.

I think CB is the way to go and stick with our 5 #2/3's. I agree with the above statement about cb, but something tells me Merriman is going to be a special special player in this league, he could be very tempting at #9.
Oh yea Mccants. The guys career season is 26 catches, why do we sweat him so much. Yea he had 7 touchdowns, I think 5 of them were from 5 yards and in. Who cares!!!!

With our less than stellar WR crew last year, McCants was not even on the roster for a few games. If Gibbs were going to create a role for him, he already would have IMO. McCants is a goner.

McCants needs to see time over Thrash.
McCants at WR >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Thrash at WR.
