:point2sky Honestly, I believe the skins should Draft Offensive because I believe the D-Fense is vicious and doesn't need to be F*@#'d with!!! We are the the number 1 ranked defense in the NFC and 2nd to the best tema in my opinon in the leage the Pittsburg Steelers! I hope to see Cowher and "Da Bus" pull it out on Superbowl Sunday!!! But back on the subject at hand, I would love to see Mike Williams with Number 88 Mike Williams!!! Cause Rod Gardner is not going to do it, with youngsters like Darnerian McCants & Taylor Jacobs stepping up the 4wr would look good with Mike Williams playing along side of L.C!!!
Peace,

The D needs a pass rusher, otherwise you will end up like Dallas, have a great D, teams figure it out, expose it next year.

Mike will be in Burgandy & Gold next yr and I hope he wears #1....It seems the NFL is allowing WR's to wear those low #'s now...

I dont think we compare to Dallas...The reason your D is so bad this yr compared to last is b/c your secondary is terrible...Injuries and FA losses hurt you there, and teams picked you apart this season..+ Roy "biscuit" Williams was out of position this yr...

I'd bet dollars to donuts that we don't pick him up. Whatever that means. I never understood that expression.

why all this talk of needing a pass rusher so bad , how many sacks did we have today? last week against a good dallas line? sure a good DE couldnt hurt but it is NOT an area of major concern like areas on the offense

Hopefully a healthy Lavar as well will help the pass rush. Demetric Evans and Ron Warner are not bad speed rushers.

This is a general misconception that I'd like to clear up...
A pass rush is not all about getting sacks. We get our fair share of those due to Gregg Williams' system and the tremendous amounts of athleticism that we have...
A pass rush is about sacks and the ability to rush the passer into making ill advised throws, scare him a bit. Culpepper on more than one occasion today had three and a half years to throw the football downfield.
We have no defensive line generated pass rush. With one, it frees up guys like LaVar and Washington to cover, so when there are blunders in coverage they are less costly. Cover 2 can be used more, so plays like we had against Dallas at the end of the game probably wouldn't occur. GW will still bring his blitz packages, believe me, but we will have many more turnovers with a pass rush generated from a guy like Pollack along with Daniels, Griff, Salav'ae, Noble, Washington, Pierce*, Barrow*, Washington, Taylor and Springs.
We won't have to use guys like Springs on blitzes as often because we're getting to the QB, so when a CB blitz comes, teams will genuinely be caught off guard... A good pass rushing defensive end makes alot more difference than anyone cares to admit.
Turnover differential is key here guys. Our D was great, but more turnovers would have given us more than one more win. Although that can also be said for the offense, I suppose.

Not to be overly technical, but wasn't COVER 2 the reason we ended up giving up that last touchdown where taylor got beat in the Dallas game?

Yes, kind of. It also didn't help that we only had four DB's and couldn't go Dime Cover 2, or a nickel cover 2. We also had no pass rush on the play, which was my initial point when bringing that play up.

Because everytime we don't blitz we get lite up like a christmas tree. For our D to be truely dominatant we need to get pressure with just our front 4. I'm not sold on Williams, and we should trade down to help fill the several holes on this team.

If he isnt on the board then I'm all for moving down and getting more picks but I think we will get more picks w/some of the trades we will make this off-season...

We need to build from the lines up. Sure our D is nasty but we still need some pass rush. The announced today compared us to the Bucs of 4-5 years ago. Remember how nasty they were but could not get over the top? Then they went and got Simeon Rice and it was OVER after that. They went into Philly and ***** slapped the Iggles at the Vet and the rest is history. Sure the offense needs some help but rarely do rookie WRs pan out right away, they take time. If we go get a nasty DE then we can plug him in right away and go. We have a foundation for an excellent D, but if we go get one or two more linemen then we could be talking about a Defense of historic proportions. A defense that we could easily look at chasing a lombardi trophy with. I would even be more in favor of trading down and getting more picks to get some more o-linemen than I would be of getting another WR. I mean look at our track record for first round WR picks, it's just scary to me.

I doubt that. Dallas go figured out last year. Williams has proven he can do it against one of the best offenses in the league without his starting corners. What do you say to that?
This D will be fine as long as Greg Williams is still here next year.

How many times did Culpepper stand in the pocket for 10+ seconds today when we called no blitz? How many times has that happened this year?
I think that says enough

how many times this year if we scored 20 pts in the game we would have won?

True that. But lacking an offense and not knowing if it'll get better next year (although I'm sure it will) we need someone to occupy two offensive blockers from the other team. WE need someone who can collapse a pocket. Our D line as it is is fine for run stopping, but the secondary can't cover forever. ANd iF the QB is on his duff they won't have to
