All this ofseason talk and I haven't heard a thing about the deal that didn't happen between Arrington and the Skins. Does anyone know whats going on with his contract issues.
Is his current contract going to get voided?
Do they start from page one and do it all again or what?

The grievance: Lavar keeps delaying the hearing.

When is the hearing supposed to be?

If only we could wipe the slate clean. If so Lavar would be lucky to get a contract for half of what he was given. leave alone the extra 5 mil.

The subject of the contract being voided is something that has not been tossed around as of late...
It would become VERY INTERESTING if that was to happen wouldn't it?
It would free up a lot of $$$ and cap room if Lavar somehow got free...

It could only happen if the Postons can prove that the Skins were being underhanded and put in the clause without their knowledge. But they did initial each page on the contract.

Let me ask this then...if the contract were to get voided, and his demands were rather high, would you let Lavar go considering Marshall did a workman's job at LB?

ABSOLUTELY!!! I love the guy, but he is nowhere near the kind of cap hit we're paying him. We could've signed Kearse and a stud center for what we signed Lavar.

Hmm, very interesting question.. I'm actually torn on the situation if that were to happen. I can clearly see lavar thriving in Williams system, in fact we saw what he could do in the Atlanta game. But if his contract is voided (which wont happen), would I sacrifice him for 2-3 other quality players given how well the defense played without him?
Geesh, thinking more about it and at this point I'd have to say yes sadly despite the potential he may have in this system.

This defense was real good without Lavar, but it can be legendary with him. Why is anyone even considering dumping Lavar?

Personally, I wouldn't dump him....
It would be tough though looking at all that cap space...
I think in GWs scheme, he is not nearly as valuable as he was in the past (yet). I think once he has a chance to play in it though that might be another story. We really know he can ball but in THIS SYSTEM????
And how would him being listed as one of the most overrated players in the NFL affect a new contract???

Lavar is the face of the Redskins, is a freak of nature, and we finally have a D Coordinator who can get the best out of him. If Williams can turn Antonio Pierce from a fake snap count caller to a Pro Bowl alternate LB, imagine what he can do with Lavar. No way we get rid of Arrington.

Why? Because you can bring in two to three other guys to help the offense if such a situation were to take place. The defense has proved it can be "real good" without him, while the offense has shown it clearly needs help.
Thats why.

ok, but if you traded Arrington then you would have to eat his bonus of over 10 million which would prevent any upgrading for a year.

The one thing lacking which would make our defense scary is the ability to create turnovers, especially turnovers that are scores. Given that Gregg Williams could consistently get Marshall into position to make tackles and assuming that Lavar is better than Marshall, I'd think that not only would Williams get him into position, he'd get Lavar to create turnovers.

the contract won't be voided, I'm not worried about that...the knee is still the question for me. At first it was a minor injury, then three weeks, then the entire season to IR. Are we completely certain he is going to be 100% next season. Seems a bit more serious than a minor tear. hes getting his frequent flyer miles in going back and forth to Alabama. Maybe we can utilize him kinda the way we used Barrow this season!!!

Because our offense was atrocious.

Look first of all the question only rings true if the contract becomes null and void (which is unlikely). But if it means being able to keep Smoot, upgrade the O-line, add a D-End and sign top notch draft picks...is it at least worth considering?
PS. I love Lavar. I believe that he is the newest Mr. Redskin. I believe that he brings a certain amount of fear to the oposing offense. Im just exploring the idea.
