Kwame Brown, wearing a walking boot on his right foot yesterday, will fly to Los Angeles to have his foot examined by Dr. Richard Ferkel. The tendinitis in his ankle that has kept him on the injured list for the last five games might be the least of his concerns.
Brown, who has appeared in 14 games, said at issue was the nature of the pain in his foot. He indicated it could be bone spurs — which could be serious trouble — or perhaps a cracked bone that has yet to be identified....

Not good news. Looks like he could be out for quite some time.

Maybe. He hasn't exactly played bad, because he hasn't been 100% healthy in any of the few games that he played. I doubt we'll see him healthy this whole season now.

Kwame is a joke. He was a bad pick at the draft, he has been terrible for us year in and year out, and he finally hurts his foot in the offseason like a moron, and we're going to now get ZERO trade value out of him. He could have at LEAST let us get something back for his destructive time here, but nope, thanks Kwame, now you won't be resigned in the offseason and we get zip.

Kwame blows.

Were bashing a guy for being injured? I know he has been a disappointment but I just don't feel right bashing him for having a legitimate injury....granted, he has been a huge disappointment for us, not even close to being a #1 overall pick, but MJ thought so....I could bash MJ for that one but I won't go there...

How is he a moron for getting injured? I don't understand the rationale behind that.

When he injured his other foot, which forced him to miss the first couple months, he did it playing a pickup game. These guys have contracts that strictly outline what they can and cant do in the offseason...now playing ball Im sure wasn't one of them, but breaking his foot in a pickup game? Thats just odd. How often do you hear that? I know its kind of rough, but he should be participating in the offseason workout programs, not trying to showoff on the playground.

As for the current injury, that is just an injury. His stupidity refers to the offseason tYtE-sTrEeT-bAlLa injury.

I was glad to hear that Kwame was playing pick-up games.....this seemed like the first offseason that he was actually focused on improving his game and from what I heard, prior to his injury he was doing just that.....his post moves certainly seemed better from the few minutes I saw him play....

Michael Jordan broke a rib in a pick up game while he was getting in shape to play for us. Nearly ALL of the nba players play in pickup games over the off-season, I haven't seen anything that suggested Kwame was playing street ball and not with other nba players, which is what they usually do. Furthermore, whether it wa street ball or not, the risk of getting hurt is still there so complaining about him trying to improve his game during the off-season is pointless.

I don't understand how people criticize the man for not getting better quick enough, and then criticize him for getting hurt while trying to get better. If you have a bias aganist the kid, say it. He was in off-season workout programs, he was working out daily on trying to get stronger before his injury.

According to the article at the time, he was playing a pickup game with friends. It wasnt an NBA practice...if it was, then I retract my statement. As far as I know, it was a game with friends as I read in the article over the summer. For that, yes, I criticize him.

How could he participate in the offseason programs when he was hurt?

I criticize him for not improving, most definitely I do. I also criticize him for not making the right choices that will FACILITATE his improvement as well. Its ALL bad IMO.

What if he has already improved to the best of his abilities? Maybe he's topped out at his skill level....I don't really think this is the case but just because he is young and has an NBA body doesn't mean he will get any better. It's been something we have been waiting on for over 3 years now....

In that regard, I agree. If he got hurt doing than he's definitely at fault.

First of all he got hurt plying against college kids. Apparently it was okay with EG, so it was okay with me. Secondly, he worked out with Jermaine O'neal this offseason, pre-injury and I have no problems with that.

Now on to Kwame's time here the past few years, he has improved every year that he has been here, excluding this year. It's a known fact that it takes big men longer to develope and I am sure that Kwame is no excption. Looking at his numbers from last year he was ahead of Jermaine O'Neal's pace and the second half of last year he put up 16 and 8 while playing stellar post defense. Those numbers are very similar to another #1 overall pick who is an undersized power forward and just signed close to a max contract, Kenyon Martin. So please, lets wait until he's healthy and see what a difference he makes on a winning team before we start throwing stones. Because if you think this team can win in the playoffs without a post presence you are sadly mistaken.

I think we should keep Kwame another 2-3 years to see what he can really do. I call his first 2 years a wash because Collins and MJ were no help to him in his game. I also thought this would be the year where he started to make some strives towards becoming a good NBA player. look at guys like Larry, who is now starting to become an elite type of player. Since we stuck it out with Kwame in the learning years, I think we would be wise to give a couple more years to get a return on our investment.

I agree, but how much is Kwame going to demand on the open-market this offseason and are the Wizards willing to invest a lot of :2cents: on him? Be interesting to see...

Exactly. If he wants to stay and get paid based on the numbers he has put up while in the NBA, NOT based on his draft status, then hey, Im all for keeping him and seeing what happens.

But to say his tenure here so far has been anything but dissapointing is beyond my comprehension.
