well here we are looking for some new leadership. He is going to be able to bring it.
Gil and Jamison have already been doing it, so they just have to continue.
Etan needs to hire someone to help him with FTs.
He was 1-6 last game. If he was only 4-6 he would have had
15 MIN 2-4, 4-6FT, 8 pts, 4 rbs. ( not bad after only a few games )
We need him to start blocking some shots again. He doesnt have his legs back. He is hardly getting off the floor. Not sure how many games this will take.
Hayes, he needs to step it up. He is capable of filling the hoop. Its time to do it on a nightly basis. Start him at the 2 if needed.
Jefferies can take it up a notch. He needs to let if go. He seems to have a decent 3 shot. He needs to take it. Draw the D out and drive to the rack and get some fouls. This will pull a D out of the middle so Gil can drive.
So Jefferies and Hayes need to come at full stream and confident.
It would be interesting if Jefferies can get into a confident mental space where he would open his game to the next level. That would have a huge impact since he is a big.
When is Blake coming back?. He is another spark plug player. You could start him at PG and let Gil run the 2.

We have a few options. Having Blake back would be really nice about now.

I'm wondering if Hayes's hand is completely healed or if he has just learned to shoot with it messed up? He reminds me a lot of Jeff Malone with his jump shot off of the pick....don't get me wrong Malone was a lot better at this point in Hayes's career but there are similiarities....
Gil is our leader, he has been and continues to be. He can usually score at will....or at least get fouled driving the lane. Atawan has seemed tired to me, he is not getting up and down the court as well as he was, he might not be used to all the minutes he has been logging as a starter? Don't know...haven't looked into his minutes per game compared to last year.
Kwame is out and never has been a leader on this team.
I think we need a few guys to step it up in order to counter-balance the loss of Larry.
1. Juan Dixon: He needs to average a good 15 points a game and grab a few boards and get a steal here and there.
2. Brendan Haywood: His minutes have dropped since Etan has come back and he hasn't been an imposing force in the middle. He needs to play with the fire he has shown he can play with and start dominating the middle against teams that he should be able to; like Toronto.
3. Jarvis Hayes: This is his time to shine and fight for a starting job while Larry is out and possible longer. He is a pure shooter with size that can grab some boards. He is a little soft on D but has shown signs of playing solid D at times. The only question is will he be consistent....we know he can light up the scoreboard one night and throw up a goose egg the next....we need more consistency from him....

This team is gonna take some real lumps over the next....."4-to-6 weeks".
They are out on the floor playing like a pathetic little dog who lost his owner.
The heart of this team has a broken thumb and i expect a ton of L's to keep coming.
This team already REFUSES to play defense and especially loves to leave the opposing teams best players open for jumpers AND Three's.
Fortuanely they padded their record w/a bunch of Wins prior to the Hughes injury...I knew Hughes was good but damm i didnt really give him his full respect until now!
Atleast when he comes back we should be right at around .500 and still in the 7th or 8th playoff slot....Im hoping.

I think it will come down to defense. I don't think Dixon and Hayes will have a problem picking up the scoring slack -- Hayes did well last year in the absence of Stackhouse. But they give up 100 points/game with Hughes -- what are they going to give up without him?

I hope it doesn't come to defense, because if it does then we are in trouble....

Obviously nobody is stepping up judging by the last 2 games. The defense has been abismal.

Well Bugs, like I say, better late then never. "Why cant we all just get along."
You confuse me when I go back and read some of you posts and comments to my posts.
You argue with me, put me down, then you start to agree with me, then you make is seem like you came up with the idea yourself. You were a little late to the game with your comments on this one.
It would be nice if moving forward, if I write something you dont agree with, that maybe you give me the benefit of the doubt first. Im right to often to not deserve that. Just start a reasonable dialog asking me explain anything you dont understand, and maybe consider what Im saying before you attack me. I know I do a lot of prodicting, that isnt provable by actual fact. But Im usually right when the facts happen.
Here were you were about this after the SA games. I was saying start Profit or Hayes, and you were pissed that I was second guessing Jordan. We both had other posts in that thread about the same topic with the same tone.
I guess it's his fault too that Arenas and Jamison have combined for 2 points? I'm just getting sick of once we have a moment of bad play or adversity people start the "EJ sucks" comments....I mean Jesus, you guys make him sound like he's the worst ****ing coach in the NBA....and hands11, you talk like you would be a better coach then him....well, apply for the damned job then...I'm tired of hearing your self-boasting comments as well....I just want to talk about the Wizards and enjoy their success....I hate to see how you guys are when we actually suck....
My comments were:
Maybe there is a connection between then sucking and roles they were put it. Jordan started the wrong line up. This isnt his strong suit so fair.
Dixon knows his role as a spark plug off the bench. The team need that. Changing him to a starter isnt the right move.
I blamed the person responcable to setting the line up. Jordan.
You didnt like that.
At least after one game. Changing the line up to start Hayes seems to have had a huge effect. The whole team looked back in balance, which they werent for 2 games.
I will offer one possible explaination for Jordans actiions because he made the adjustment so quickly ( after 2 games ). I will give him the benefit of the doubt, as I have asked for. Actually, I would love for this to be true becuase I would like that believe he see the things Im suggesting. The Wiz our my team. I want our coach to be good. I want us to be awesome. I dont want there to be a need for me to second guess Jordan.
Anyway, this is what I hope Jordan was doing/thinking.
I hope he knew Dixon shouldn't be the best starter and that he should start Hayes or Profit instead. But, he know he was going to loss to SA anyway, so he had a Mullagame, so to speak.
Dixon had been working hard and playing well. He had earned the chance to start. For the sake of Dixons mental development and moral, it was better to start him and see the result, then to ( keep him down ) and not give him a chance to start. The other team members need to know this as well. If you work hard, play good, you get a shot.
So Jordan gives Dixon first shot at the starting job, he had to do it for 2 games to make it legit. It didnt work so Dixon now excepts it. He has no bad feeling. He is now excited and excepts his role off the bench. He knows that works best for him and the team. He will get his minutes and chances from the bench. Depending on who they play, size, match up, and how the game is going, he will sometimes play the last minutes of the 4th or be on the bench. It just depends on what happening that game. He has now earned the respect and right as a key player. I heard the annoucers starting to compare him to : the microwave: Vinny. Dixon can feel great about his role on this team.
Now if that is what Jordan was doing. Then he is not only smart but brillent because he not only new who should start to begin with but he understands the delicut mental make up and ego of his young players. Since he made the change after only 2 games and this is a believable explaination for his actions, I choose to believe this for now. Well have to see if other moves he makes fit this mold. He could never admit to doing something like this, so your not likely to read it as a qoute from him. You may hear him say somthing were you can read between then lines though.
I keep in mind, he is a second year coach so he is learning also. Things he did in the past that I didnt agree with arent going to neccessary happen in the future. I expect him to learn and grow the same as our players. We are a young team with a young coaches and we have lots of talent. Skys the limites.

That was a pleasant surprise. Who would have thought Peeler would be Dixons back up spark plug.
Very welcome and very timely.
we beat Indi at Indi without Hughes, Kwame or Dixon.
Somebody slap me. This almost puts me back to the way I felt about this team before Larry went down. I want to see us beat Cleveland and a few more games.
Players are stepping up. Its not just Gil, Hughes and Jamison anymore. Its Haywood, Jefferies, Dixon, Hayes and others.
Tonight Peeler jumps in. Winning breads winning.
Thats was Gibbs and others talk about. I think this is also what MJ was tring to do. Get them to win.
Looks at all the second line players that are feeding into this now.
You cant achieve what you dont believe. They used to believe they would blow the lead and loss. Now they believe they will win.
MOST EXCELLENT MR HON.
