I checked to see if there were any other threads but I couldn't find any. Has anyone else heard this?

CANTY BLINDED IN BAR FIGHT?

A league source tells us that former Virginia defensive lineman Chris Canty might be permanently blind in one eye following a bar fight earlier this week.

Per the source, Canty got into it with a much smaller guy. Canty supposedly started it, and the other guy busted a bottle over Canty's head.

Word is that the glass cut Canty's eye, and that he might never regain sight in it.

The twist here is that the incident apparently occurred at a Phoenix-area night club owned by Canty's agents, which could raise some intriguing liability issues.

Stay tuned for more on this one.

I don't think its true. This rumor has been on the UVA and Tech boards all day.

I hope to God he is ok, because this guy is a serious player

That would cost him millions (which I understand is not his or his familys' main concern but still).

I hope it's not true.

What is it with football players and beer bottles? We have had not one, but two promising football players in my home town maimed with beer bottles in recent times. Both were *******s, and probably deserved what they got, but it's still strange.

I don't know what's worse. Having that happen, or getting six different women pregnant your senior year and not being able to afford to go to college like another guy who had a full ride to Georgia Tech did.

Could be the Chris Canty who played at Kansas State and was waived by the Arena League last week.

Was that Tony Hargrove? He's with the Rams now, I think.

Well, if he is a DE, he could line up so his blind eye is on the outside and still be an effective pass-rusher?

Chris Canty is the DE from UVA that blew out his knee. He was a monster, but his stock seems to be plummeting....

Top DE prospect injured in fight... Pro Football Talk is reporting in its Rumor mill that Virginia DE Chris Canty injured his eye in a barroom fight in Scottsdale over the weekend. There were originally concerns that Canty might have suffered some permanent loss of vision, but those fears seem to have allayed. Canty, in fact, spent a night in hospital, but has since been released; no word yet, though, on whether the injury will affect Canty's availability to participate in the combines later this month
