I love the negativity.
At least the Skins are not the Titans right now.

Truth is not negativity... I am just hopeful we dont lose Coles and it all turns out to be a ruse...

I've never seen so many people worried about losing players on a 5-11 and 6-10 team in my life. They don't wanna' be here, they don't wanna' be here. What can you do....

I don't mind Smoot leaving as much, because our defense proved last year that we can overcome losing guys to whatever reason. The offense was another story. Losing one of the most talented players on the unit hurts. Let's just hope Jacobs steps up and we can get another decent WR in here.

Good point, losing players off of a 6-10 team that don't want to be here, let 'em go. Especially from the offense. We have nothing to do but improve. With our without Coles.

Coles was damaged goods, I can't say Im too sad to see him go. The cap space we get back by this move is nice. Expect big things from Taylor Jacobs, and whatever receiver we aquire through free agency or the draft.

When you might lose some of the best players on said 5-11 or 6-10 team you need to worry.

Not really.
If you can lose with them, you can certainly accomplish this without them

Jacobs, Mike Williams, and McCants the posse '05 ;)

With all the top CBs becoming cap casualties and the deep CB crop in the draft, Fred Smoot is going to realize soon that he's not going to get a $14 million signing bonus just for having 1 good year, and it wasn't even that good of a year.
Smoot will be back, so will Pierce.

Well...yea. I guess that's one way to look at it.
Not a good way to build a winner, though. Losing good, young players who will end up on another team doing good things. I could see Pierce and Coles in a Cowboys uni next season.

i'm tired of gettin shafted and screwed as a fan...........every year since 92 it's the same stuff. All we do is lose and be the laughing stock of the league with our front office mockery. We pay too much to attend games, we couldn't even walk to our own stadium, and we can't get players into the Hall of Fame who deserve to be there. Now couple all this with this whole Coles thing and it's testing my patience as being a die-hard fan. I'm so pissed, we fans deserve better

We won't lose all 3. 1 for sure, and maybe 2 (Coles & Smoot). Pierce will be here unless we get a sween deal for him in FA.

Well gaining a new multi-millionaire (or a few) in the off-season doesn't appear to work either:doh:
I have a gut feeling that Gibbs knows what to look for in a football player:laugh:
Of those 3 names you mentioned, Pierce will most likely stay. Smoot and Coles, bye bye!

No need to worry. They certainly didn't help us win. Who wants to keep a player wanting $14m up-front who isn't worth it, especially for this system? Who wants a dinged-up WR with an injury keeping him from being full-speed, especially when the guy doesn't want to be here? I still think we'll ultimately keep Pierce, but the other two don't exactly spell the end of the world.
Coles, in particular, can help by giving us cap relief to work more for the future. The only possible way they'd consider just letting him loose would be to get part of his SB back. Otherwise, no deal. They cut him, big cap hit. They trade him, big cap hit. They don't have to let him go if they don't want to.

Injured foot and hand. He was one of the best when we signed him, now he's not.
I'll take the money to spend on a better player for the team. - I don't see where the worry is from.

i don't agree with that logic. we could go 6-10 or worse if we had guys off the street suiting up (plus think of the cap saving--snyder would be RICH(er)!). last time i checked the purpose of having a football team is to win.

Whata if we could pick Williams and then trade for a lower 1st round pick and get Troy Williamson....that would be a thing of beauty...building through the draft for the long term?

We stink and haven't been to the playoffs since 99 so what are we losing?? The players were losing didn't do us any good. Having the #2 or #3 defense doesn't mean anything if were not winning. If they dont want to be here then the hell with them.
