FFMastermind.com Titans correspondent Terry McCormick reports for the City Paper that the Jacksonville Jaguars continue to be one of the leading pursuers of former Titans WR Derrick Mason, who said some sort of deal should be consummated with some team within 48 hours. “We’re looking at offers, and I would think something could get done either tomorrow [today] or Tuesday,” Mason said.

Mason said the Jaguars situation is appealing to him. “It would be an interesting situation, because they’re a team that is going in the right direction,” Mason said. “They already have a good receiver in WR Jimmy Smith, a good quarterback in [Byron] Leftwich, they have RB Fred Taylor and that defense is excellent.” Former Titans receivers coach Steve Walters is now in Jacksonville.

The Cincinnati Bengals official website reports it looks like the Bengals are no longer in the WR Derrick Mason derby. The jack apparently is too high if they want to do more in free agency, and word is he isn’t sure if there are enough catches to go around among him, WR Chad Johnson and WR Peter Warrick.

Baltimore is deep in the Mason hunt, as well as Jacksonville and the two New York clubs. The Baltimore Sun adds Ravens officials spoke with Mason's agent yesterday, but no visit has been scheduled.
