Hmm. After signing Bledsoe, Ferguson, Henry and maybe Rivera now, we indians and Dan Snyder are eating the Cowpies dust now. And the Cowpies also have two #1 picks and # 2 pick. :(
But at least we got em on the run. :D

You act like we are scared. How about we sit back and enjoy the feeling of knowing how amazing the skins are gonna be this season

This is probably their best signing. The other signings don't worry me as much.

Wow, they are really moving alot faster than us right now...hopefully that's a good sign for us.:whoknows:

good for them.
They are in more of a rush than we are right now. Tuna has 2 seasons max left...I doubt he stays past 05.
They played the cap well and are making moves. Eagles still are the most talented in this division.

Does this mean Allen will possibly retire...or does he play the gurad spot?

I kinda like us shopping with discipline for a change. Save for the future. We're going to need it to keep alot starters that could be up for contract re-do's in the upcoming years.

All-Pro? That's news to me.

I don't know why it took Parcells three years to tap into free agency. Those guys are undergoing the longest rebuilding process this side of 1990.
We made our splash last year. Now is our year to tweak what we've got.

The Cowboys had a LOT more holes than we had entering the offseason. They had to move quickly to add players. We are a far more complete team at the moment, though that may change as we make changes.

And? Guards last longer in this league because they rely more on brute strength and leverage than speed and stimina. That's why Rivera has been to the last two pro-bowls.
It was a good signing and throwing his age out there will not change that.
Good going Jerry, indeed.

Why is everyone thinking we are shopping with discipline?? We don’t have the freaking cap money to do it that is the number 1 reason. If we did trust me it will be another shopping spree.... I am not sure how things will work out but I am a Skin for life, win or loose I am a skin and I hope this year will be a much better year than what I and all the other Skin fans has gone through...

We had less cap room last season I believe.
Why aren't we throwing money around? Fewer holes + a little more discipline.

A good pickup for the pukes. Rivera has a couple good years left in him and will make them better.

Exactly. Huge free-agent signings have done so much for us in the past...

because we are.
We could have signed Pierce if we wanted to, but we are showing restraint, which indicates we obviously have a plan.
Like mentioned, we had more needs last year than this year. I think people around here are disappointed because we have grown so used to signing a bunch of players.

Art, your CONSTANT mutterings about the state of the "Talent Chasm" between the two teams are hilarious.
SOOOOO much more talented, yet you still can't beat us and finished with the exact same record last season.
We've got some holes on the defensive side of the ball and some at OL, but you have more than your share on Offense, where you were one of THE WORST IN THE LEAGUE last year.
If anything, the number of "talent holes" on these two squads is darn near even.

Chris,
In the first year of a major philosophical shift on both sides of the ball we probably should not have expected smooth sailing, and we didn't have that. Gibbs took a while to get back into the swing of things, and even then, failed to fully do so. If we were 6-10 in the second year with Gibbs here, I'd probably be worried, but we weren't.
The amusing aspect to conversations with you is you fail to actually allow the situation of our teams to factor into your thoughts. We weren't on an even playing field. You had a substantial advantage with lower turnover and consistency within the systems and found teams could outmatch you from a personnel standpoint having figured you out the year before.
That's why in the third year with Parcells you're finally looking like a team that realizes you don't have anything to compete.
We didn't either last year, which is why we went out and improved our roster. Having done that, we left our team, heading into this offseason, with no obvious weaknesses. Some may creep up here as we go along this offseason, but, none existed heading in that couldn't be addressed in just a couple of moves.
Your situation is far different. That's why you're acting now as we did last year. It just took you a LONG while to come to grips with your personnel deficiencies, and fortunately for the Cowboys, Parcells and company recognize it while you still don't.

Wonder why there aren’t many 30+ lineman? Because they cant take the strain of having a more athletic body 10 years their junior pushing on them for 45 minutes for 16+ games.
If you have a hole at guard, this could possibly be a decent move but as far as I know, Dallas didnt..
Also giving him 12.5m for the first two years of his contract is irresponsible at best and quite foolish.

Waaa. "It was the system! Yeah, thats it!"
Excuses excuses is all i ever hear from you. Every year you crow about how much better the skins talent is, and every year you are eating the Cowboys' dust. And yet you keep at it. Quie admirable, really. As far as "talent" goes....
Stack up the Dallas Offensive personnel vs. the Skins, i'll take Dallas everytime. In terms of Defensive personnel, Dallas has plenty of holes whereas the skins don't have as many. However, on offense that's a whole other story. Talent-wise, these teams are about the same. And the results on the field bear it out.
All that talent, and yet you STILL couldnt muster any better than a 6 win season with two losses to the CLEARLY inferior Cowboys. And that tired "Its the system" excuse doesn't hold that much water, since teams install new offenses and defenses all the time and do just fine (see Dallas' 10 wins in BP's first season with a brand new offense)
Keep telling yourself "We have more talent, we have more talent, we have more talent" while Dallas continues to pile up win after win after win against the Skins.

What an ignorant post. There are plenty of NFL lineman above 30 playing in the NFL today.
I find it highly ironic that you are preaching about responsibility and foolishness when you are a fan of one of the most irresponsible and foolish teams in the NFL.
Giving him 12.5m the first two years means we can cut him after 2 years without suffering a large cap hit. Much better than backloading such a contract for an older player, eh?
The right side of our line was a major weakness. Maybe if you had witnessed more than two games involving the Cowboys you would realize this. Rivera is a major upgrade over Gurode and brings much needed leadership and attitude to the line.
Instead of spouting off on other team's signings, maybe you should worry about how you're going to win more than 5 games this year with that pathetic offense of yours. Losing Pierce and Smoot will hurt your defense as well. Enjoy being in the basement because that's where you'll be for a while.
