View Full Version : Gardner will succeed for his new team

When Rod Gardner is traded to the Vikings, Bucs, whoever he ends up playing for..... Watch the boy have an awesome year! 1000 yard season, several TD receptions, and dare I say... Pro Bowl consideration or possibly an alternate? It wouldn't surprise me at all. We have a long history of letting players go and then they end up blossoming into Pro-Bowlers and Super Bowl Champions!:logo:

Then that will mean he sucked because he wanted off the team. If that is the case then f him. He's a tool along with Coles

He'd have to catch the football...a small problem he's had for a number of years.

are we talking about the same rod gardner??

He could blossom with the Vikes but it will be more Daunte Culpepper than Rod Gardner.

So are you suggesting that we keep him, and give him even more opportunities to prove to our front office that he is a very inconsistent receiver?
How many chances does a guy need to be given before you finally say enough is enough?
He's had more than enough opportunities here in D.C.....
If he succeeds somewhere else, then so be it.......we can't continue to be crippled by his poor play....

No... I'm not saying we should keep him at all.... He's a lost cause to the Skins now just like Coles was... I'm just saying it would be par for another player to leave the Redskins and then go on to have the most productive years of their career.

Rod has tlent.... it just doesn't show except 1 or 2 games a year
in 2 games Dallas #1, and Frisco he had 247 total yards
or
42.76% of his season total dispite starting all 16 games :(

Just like Micheal Westbrook showed us? :)

C'est la vie.
I truly wouldn't have a problem with it, if Rod went on to be a 1200 yard receiver with the Vikings or whomever....
For me, it's all about team performance, not individual performances. I really think that in the case of Gardner, it a case of addition by subtraction for us.....
Ridding of him leaves alot of headaches behind and moves us one step closer towards becoming a better TEAM.....

who cares if gardner does well when he leaves. what is important is that the skins are better off without than with him. he has no proven himself a valuable contributer on the field or off, so lets get a player for him and move on.

I completely agree with this statement. If Rod goes to the Vikes we have a career year. Culpepper will make him a better player. The Vikes would be making a smart move by trading for Rod, imo.

Rod Gardner in Minnesota would have a somewhat successful season. He could potentially reach 1k yards but Pro Bowl consideration? Come on, that is NOT going to happen!

Who cares? He didn't do it with us.
It's called welcome to Washington.
Meet Chris Webber, Scott Stevens, Rasheed Wallace, Larry Murphy, etc.

Let him go. So what if he has a great year. The point is that he has not done squat HERE. Hope he does well. Now let's worry about our own team.
Of course he isn't gone yet but hope he does well.

Yeah, not to mention your 2004 NBA Champion Detriot Pistons. (Sheed, Ben Wallace, Rip Hamilton, Darvin Ham, etc.) They might as well have gotten Gheorge Muresan to suit up and win a ring just to rub our noses in it.
As for Gardner's chances of success when he leaves this team? I'd place them at 50/50. :D

well, Zeron Flemister ended up getting a Super Bowl ring from the Patriots this year as a TE on IR. I guess he is supposed to count in that group too, even as he was cut on March 2? :)

If he has a great year all his teammates and fans will have to watch that lame first down signal or dance more than we did. They will be ready to kill him by week 3.

Well, that is the chance you take by letting or trading any of your players away. It stings when it happens, believe me I know as being a die hard Wizards fan. What I don't like is how a lot of fans here continue to belittle players and talk crap about them when they either leave or are ready to. Heck, if I believed everyone here then I would think Coles was no better than Gardner and Gardner is no better than Desmond Howard
Rod did have over 1,000 yards and 8 touchdowns a couple of years ago for us. That is a pretty damn good year. With the right coach (Gibbs) and Q-back (Ramsey), why couldn't he repeat that or surpass it?

I already said he'd have a big year. Big deal. We don't need him or want him. We're trying to purge the stink here fella's.

You know something I haven’t every really considered before. I wonder if having to play opposite Coles had anything to do with his play. It’s pretty obvious when you go back over the film this year, there was not a lot of love between those two. I’ve bashed him as much as the next guy, but I’d like to see what he could do with this end of contract year coming up. At least have him around through training camp just to see if his attitude has got any better since Coles departure. It’s not like we gave any of the WR’s any kind of consistency this year with the lackluster play of the O Line and QB position.
Things that make ya go hmmmmmmmm

He could do it elsewhere, but he sure as hell isn't going to do it here. Better off will be both parties.

Really which ex-Redskin did extremely well after leaving us?
I can't think of any to be honest. Brad Johnson would be it

Contract Year. He might have a break out year just to try and get big money the year after.

I understand and parochially agree with you. It just always seems to be our luck that that sort of thing happens to us; however, although Gardner has great talent, I don't think that he will ever be a "Pro Bowl" receiver.
Don't worry; I think that the Redskins will get the better of any Rod Gardner trade deal.

You know, it's funny to watch so many people become infatuated with draft status.
People get so tied to these players based on where they were drafted.. as opposed to performance.
I'd love to have the opportunity to coach against these people in football.

He has the talent, but lacks the brains to make it work. He can dominate, and has shown flashed of that talent. But it isn't consistent at all. I think he'll blow up too, but it doesn't matter because it won't be while he's with the redskins. He's good as gone, and I feel like signin about it.
