Are there really any "shut" down corners in today's NFL?
Anyhow, Smoot still has options besides us....

Good but if Smoot were to go to the Cheifs could you imagine Pat as a skin

Hopefully Smoot will see his market value is not as high as he had hoped and come back to the loyal fanbase that wants to keep him in burgandy and gold.

No mainly because we don't have a 2nd rounder.

You know...
It'd be poetic justice now for the Skins to resign Smoot at our original offer.. OR LESS.
I hope this is sincerely humbling to Smoot... :) Given his ego... he could use it.

look, I'd rather ship Coles for a CB if we're not keeping Smoot.
This WR for WR BS is dumb.

One of the most underappreciated players in the NFL.
Would make a great pickup.

The market for Smoot is diminishing - come on Smoot take the $10 million!!!!!

I think there are some receivers in NY, NE and buffalo that wouldn;t like that you referred to Surtain as a shutdown corner?
REPEAT AFTER ME: AT the current time, there are not any shutdown corners in the NFL.
Oh yeah and I would love KC to sign Surtain!! That would leave Fred and Ty holding each others beanbags!

The overall lack of interest in Smoot is a little surprising. What do these teams know that we don't?
Fortunately, the market for FA CBs was deep and I know that had something to do with it.
Smoot is a great player and I love his heart but could it have something to do with his being succeptable to injury?
He is rather skinny and throws his body around.
I know he plays hurt and that is admirable but this has to have been on the mind of many a Skins fan.
Thoughts? I'm just putting it out there.

ESPN Insider has he Seattle Seahawks as having the inside track on Surtain:
Mar. 7 - The Seahawks are the leading candidate to pull off a deal for Dolphins cornerback Patrick Surtain, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports. Seattle's interest in Surtain rose when starting CB Ken Lucas signed with the Panthers for six years and $36 million.
According to the Post-Intelligencer, the Dolphins would likely demand a second-round pick. Surtain is believed to be seeking a signing bonus of at least $8 million. He's entering the final year of a contract that pays him $6.15 million in 2005 and has a cap number of $8.383 million.

Ah huh. So Brett now your here creating rumours, And BYT, Darrel Green managed to shut down Randy Moss, so if their smart KC should not pick Surtain over Smoot because their worried about the size difference. They should go for the better corner. That said I hope this is the one time your rumour is actually real.

They should go for the better corner...good theory....that's why I believe they are interested in Pat Surtain.

Well you know if we could ever get a deal done to trade 50/50 we just might have that 2nd round pick needed to land Surtain.
