Our local news out here is saying that Gibbs has been out at one of the local Pro Days checking out Leflors. Supposedly having an interview with him on at 11 pm.

Short, very average arm.
However very smart player, very accurate.
I believe his accuracy rating this year was somethign ridiculous.

Stefan Leflors......... Louisville QB......... only 6-0 and 208 lbs., though. But then again Joe Theismann was only 6-0 too......... so who knows.
Anyone got any stats on this guy? I haven't got time now to research it.

Well, from having watched the guy all season here, I can say the only downgrade to the guy is his size. He really looked tiny behind his lineman, but I always though how much of a Gibbs type QB he was when I watched him play.
His average arm is deadly accurate. When he let a ball fly, it always went where it was intended. He lacks the zip to throw it into tight double coverage, but he has no problem throwing a highly accurate 60 yard bomb, and wasn't afraid to let it rip down field when the shot was there.
He also can make time in a pocket with his scramble, will run it down the field, but will sit in the pocket for as long as it will let him.
He isn't the flashiest QB, and to be honest, the younger QB they were grooming was actually better physically, but LeFlors FB smarts made him something that you just had to appreciate

eh, Gibbs is very picky about his QBS so lets see how this goes.

It would be great to pick up somebody that may have the potential to become a ligit #2 when Brunell is kicked to the curb after next season.

Thats way too high for this guy who is supposed to be a 7th round pick or free agent.
If we draft a QB I would prefer Adrian McPherson myself. :)

When did Joe go from QBs with nice arms to guys with average(at best) arms.
I mean, I guess it would be great to have an incredibly accurate backup, but it just seems out of step.
It ain't just Lefors, it's Brunell too whose arm was declining before he was benched in Jax.

Probably 3rd or 4th round is when he'll go.
He had the second fastest 40 time for a QB at the combine. The word is if he were bigger he'd be a first rounder.
Extremely high character guy.
If you want some info about the guys roots then check this out.

Stats won't tell you the whole story on this guy, however one thing I will tell you is that Lou almost and by almost I mean SHOULD have beat MiamiU last season. I remember the game very well.
Look at the box score.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=242882390
LeFors picked apart that Miami D like it was nothing.
Here are his stats from 04.
189 of 257 for 2596 yards 73.5% 10.1 avg. 20TDs 3 INTs 9 sack 181.7 rating
rushing Att. 71 for 333 yards 4.7 avg. 3TDs.
Another thing I will tell you is that the kid behind him on the depth chart Brian Brohm, that kid is a future 1st round draft pick. He'll go top 5 in 2007 or 8. Just something to note to self;)

Good insurance pick in case Ramsey sucks it up this year....
i think guys like Timmy Chang and Lefors will turn out better in the NFl then Rodgers or Alex Smith. Might sound stupid but i think those highly touted Qb's are terribly overrated.

Lefors is Flutie. Small, tough, good leader, pretty good feet. Flutie had much more of an arm then Lefors does though. I'd be shocked if Lefors is drafted day 1.

FYI - Scouts Inc gave Lefors a rating of 30. This is how they explain their grading:
21-49 Borderline Draft Prospect
These are players that teams like something about, but certainly do not have the full package in terms of NFL talent. A lot of times, teams will take chances on character players or developmental type athletes with this grade. And often, these are players that come from smaller schools or did not standout at the college level. NFL teams are looking for 'diamonds in the rough' with this type of prospect. He will usually rate in the bottom third of players at his position and will be considered a late round draft choice or un-drafted free agent.

Stefan LeFors
Official Bio College: Louisville Height: 6-01/8
Position: Quarterback Weight: 208
Class: Senior 40-Yard: 4.53
SCOUTING REPORT
Strengths: Good athlete with excellent mobility to scramble and make things happen when the play breaks down...Very accurate passer with good timing and touch...Doesn't make many mistakes...Has all the intangibles you look for and is a team leader and field general...Has the "It" factor that all the great ones possess.
Weaknesses: Vastly undersized in terms of a pro prospect...Arm strength is subpar and will become more of a problem at the next level...Durability could be a concern due to his size and style of play...Will need to be in the right system to even have a chance.
Notes: Father, Mother and Brother are all deaf...Had an incredible senior season and will get a shot in the NFL but just doesn't have the physical tools the pros look for...Could develop into an excellent backup.

I'm not saying anything either way as to whether or not this guy LeFlors will have NFL success, becuase I have no real clue but I would suspect that his speed could compensate for his lack of height. Isn't that how it worked for Theisman: Gibbs rolled him out a lot so he wouldn't have to throw over the heads of linemen?

I'm personally a big fan of this guy. I saw a lot of his games on ESPN last year and he handled pressure better than really any other college qb out there. If he's there in the 2nd day of the draft i say get him.

Well, the quick news blurb had LeFlors stating that he talked with the Gibbs, Bugel, Breaux and Musgrave, and Gibbs simply stating that they look at a lot of guys and not really saying much else. It was a quick blurb, but apparently they have some intrest in the guy.

Yea he's the dude that ESPN had the special on about how his whole family is deaf except him as well as his football career... great guy it seemed like... as a qb all I could basically equate him to is a less physically imposing version of Alex Smith, so if Smith goes top 10 and we drafted Leflors 3rd round or later id say its a good deal.

Lefors is a hig character guy and
he is the only person in his houshold who was not hearing impared so as far as calling plays from the line in a pressure situation he is a great no #2.
He never seemed to get rattled
even in big games.........

LeFors is an extremely high character guy, and would be an excellent late round pick. If you can snag him in the fifth or sixth, he's quite a steal.

this is a dead-on accurate profile of the guy. a classic over-achiever who makes great decisions. i also believe he led all NCAA in passing efficiency.
he's a day 2 pick though.... we can get him late.

I hope Brunell's are.

I'm thinking this would affect Hasselbeck more than Brunell. Right now, Brunell is our #2 guy and there's no way Gibbs will keep 4 qbs.

But I don't think that Theismann would've been as good in this NFL as he was in the NFL at that time. Players today are so much bigger and faster that I think the QB has to become bigger and faster.

Lefors is a great quarterback. His size yes is a big concern. But he is the type of guy that you love to give a chance. His accuracy is unbelievable. Hopefully he can sit a few years and hit the weight room. Develop a stronger arm and turn into a good quarterback.

Well, I don't know how he does it, but U of L's line was far from small, they averaged 6'4" with a few OL going as tall as 6'7", yet he still managed to see the field well.
But I do see drafting LeFlors as Hasselbacks ticket out of here, which is a shame if you ask me. I'd much rather have Ramsey, Hassellback and then a project QB on the roster, but we'll have to wait at least one more year before dumping Brunell.
