This spring he already has 2 dingers, including a 4-4 day on Thursday against the Mets (A dinger off of HORRBILE former O Mike DeJean). If he keeps this up, he may be batting 2nd afterall.
While he broke out in 2003, this is his last RFA season and is looking to have a contract year.
It's amazing what an offseason of rest and some laser eye surgery can do for a guy.
Pick him up late in your fantasy leagues, boys.

Once I heard the Laser eye thing over the winter, I had a feeling this could be his breakout year if he stays healthy. Playing at 1st should help him stay healthy too.

No doubt. Plus Mazz can DH him once a week or 10 days and let Raffy get some base time.

I always thought he had a great upside....and the offensive additions only help him...he just needs to be more consistant.

Yea, consistency was what kept him for getting to the show in Toronto when the O's took him in the Rule V draft. The Organization loved his power and throwing arm, but he didn't start to put it togather until he came to the O's.

I look for big things from him amd Bigbie this year. If those two can stay healthy and productive this lineup will be a force. All we need from our pitching is to be as effective as they were in the second half last year.

KingGibbs,
If he and Bigbie both have big years, there's really no way this team can't challenge for the wild card. That is just too many explosive bats in one lineup!!

Gibbons has always been solid. But, the only thing that has been in his way from having a breakout year is injuries. Every year he has injuries. I just hope he stays healthy this year, and if he has a break out year, then the o's lineup will just be downright scary.;)

Hopefully his wrist won't bother him again. Truly I don't see Gibbons hitting in the number 2 slot. i would rather have Gibbons bat behind Lopez because I think it would give him better pitches to hit. To me I see Gibbons has a homerun hitter, and I rather see Bigbie bat in the second spot because he is more has a contact hitter.

Man, if Matos can get his act together then this could be a real tough lineup 1-9. I think Gibbons and Palmerio will bounce back in thier new roles.
