Canopus Procoder 2 is not bad, but it is expensive.

You can also convert to AVI/DivX/XviD to DVD at http://www.videohelp.com/tools?convert=AVI%20to%20DVD

I have used dvdSanta, and it's free, and it's not to bad.

Why do you guys like Divx so much, just out of curiousity? I find it hard to use - always looking for the right 'codec' - it drives me crazy. You can convert dvd files to MPEG very easily with some simple programs. I just find it easier to work with, and no one will have any problems playing back your creations. Are there other factors entering into your choice?

Could be wrong, but i think it has one of the highest quality with the use of the least memory/disk space.

I'm not a techie, so you may be right. If you were converting entire movies, I could see the point. But for clips - I just find MPEG easier and there aren't playback issues. Just my 2 cents.

I was thinking it's a compression issue. I'm not for sure, but that's what I was thinking.

i love divx xvid and all those crazy file types. you can get near dvd quality (at least much better than vhs) in about a gig of hdd space.
