I just watched th IV, V, VI in the last few days...for the first time since I was a kid.

IV and V were excellant, as was the documentary on the bonus disc. Was Obi Won (s/p??) killed in the first one, or was he already a ghost? Reason asking is he just kind of disappeared when Vader hit him with his saber. His clothes just hit the floor.

I saw Sin City at the Hoyt's in Manassas:doh: The theatre was packed, the seats were horribly uncomfortable, and there was a 300 lbs couple making out right nest to me.:puke: We got to the theatre a half hour early so we could get good seats and all these people kept asking the usher to ask everyone in our row to move around; when there were still the first three rows open. I said tough sh*t...the only person I moved for was an older couple, because I thought maybe their necks might hurt sitting up there. Has this happened to anyone else?

These are the kinds of threads that make our jobs as admins/mods interesting. One the one hand, yes, it's a relatively harmless exercise. Even mildly humorous in spots.

And it IS the offseason after all, when we generally allow much more latitde for this kind of thing.

But the truth is that it's also utterly and transparently self-serving. And while that doesn't bother everybody, I know it does bother some. That's a subjective problem though, so we'll let that go right now.

Where it potentially becomes a practical issue is here: When there are only one or two such threads bouncing up and down the first page of the forum, it's really not that big a deal. The concern comes when, in a community of 30,000 and counting, a bunch of members suddenly listen to their muses telling them to begin creating threads about, well ... themselves at best, nothing at worst ... and all of a sudden that type thread has filled up the whole shootin' match.

This forum is supposed to be like a Tailgate party, yes, but it's also a place where people come to talk about real life, exchange ideas and maybe, once in a great while, even learn something.

So as life quandaries go, no, I suppose this particular matter is not in the Top 100 or anything ... but it is the kind of thing that occasionally moves one of us behind-the-curtains types to try to say something that, in a perfect world, might conceivably sink in in certain quarters, where it might serve all of us well. :)
