Eagles | Simon Trade Talks with Ravens Dead? - from www.KFFL.com
Tue, 5 Apr 2005 09:39:37 -0700

Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports trade talks between the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens regarding Eagles' DT Corey Simon have already broken down per a league source. Simon confirmed there had been some conversation but later said there is nothing going on at this time. The Ravens are reportedly no longer interested because the long-term deal Simon is looking for is more than they are interested in paying. Reuben Frank, of PhillyBurbs.com, reports Simon said he has not received an offer from the Ravens.

Simons obviously over values himself. That's a shame for Philly. 2nd & 3rd round picks for an average DT woulda been sweet for them.

Good let the Eagles keep him. Clinton is gonna run wild next season.

yeah right. Clinton running wild on Philly is like Philly itself winning the big game. Ain't gonna happen. ;)

seriously, I said it yesterday. They should keep him. Wasn't he franchised? Just for this year at least. They have the cap room. We all saw that you need a number of starting material DL in this league. They trade him, start somebody else and who would back that guy up?

I'm not against keeping him, but I wish it were for more than this year (which I can't see happening). I think this will be Simon's last year with the Eagles because of his incredulous contract demands, and therefore, I was for moving him.

I agree, I think this hurts the Eagles in the long term. They could have gotten some nice picks for him and now they will get nothing when he walks. The same thing could happen with our former first round pick Gardner. Simon is also not worth the money he is asking. He is good, but not that good.
