Attendance: 48,271 which is an opening day record. There were a few patches not sold in the way upper deck of centerfield, but the team put in bleachers in right and center where it would normally be standing room.
Batters faced by the pen, each pitching a full inning: Kline 4, Julio 3, Ryan 3. Although the A's tagged a couple "at 'em balls"
Every starter got on base besides Raffy. Even guys whose stat line was hitless like Gibbons and Tejada were walked twice.
Seeing Sosa streak down the right field line was awesome. He misjudged a fly ball off the wall, but Scutaro was going to have a double anyway.
The defense was pretty good in REALLY windy conditions. Some hot dog wrappers collected in left field, which irked me a little. People need to control their garbage and crumple anything paper!
Roberts misjudged a grounder hit right to him, but Matos ran down a couple difficult flys. Matos only seems to struggle @ the ones hit right at him!
Trebelhorn isn't knicknamed "The Windmill" for nothing.
Rodrigo Lopez did what he does all the time. Strand runners. He had pretty good stuff, but didn't make any bad mistakes. Most hits came from good pitches, not BAD pitches. I don't think that any A's even reached 3rd base.
Melvin Mora still has the best walkup music in baseball. the O's 2-3-4 hitters all have salsa music this season.
The moment of silence for Chuck Thompson, Johnny Oates and The Pope was very nice. Johnny Oates wasn't the greatest baseball minds, but was one of the nicest ppl in baseball.
