Pick one ;)
4 homeruns already? he's gotta be on something! jk
Seriously, I never used to be his biggest fan, but after last year I came around...Good to see our farm system produce a quality player. Let's hope he keeps this up!

Guys keep thinking they can jam him inside. He's got a short stroke and a quick bat. Pitch him outside and he hits it over the ss/2b's head, throw inside and he hits BOMBS.

I didn't like him too much last year. I thought he was average, but right now he is proving me wrong. If he continues this, he'll be an All Star second basemen as long as he doesn't get snubbed by popularity.

I gotta go with the clear, he seems like a clear guy.
:rotflmao:
Haha that is what I was thinking before tonight's game. And then when he crushed that pitch tonight, I was like, "You have to be f*cking kidding me!" Do you people realize that he hit 4 hr's all year last year (in 150+ games). His career high was 5 2 years ago. I also came around to love him last year. I think he is one of the more underrated lead off guys in baseball...
And plus, it is always good when your leadoff guy leads the majors in homeruns.....

Maybe he just got tired of hitting all those doubles and having to run just to get 2 when it's way easier to get 4 with a light jog.
Who would have thought he'd excel like this with now competition over his back. Just proves if you give a guy a chance, a full year of work, and no Harriston looking over his shoulder he can perform. Maybe Matos will do the same without Harriston looking over his shoulder...lol. Jerry the virus..lol.

I've always wanted him to stay ahead of Hairston.
Jerry was kind of the epitome of what was wrong with the O's of the past decade. He had the pedigree and the name, just none of the results.
To me, Roberts was just a good, hard-nosed player that we developed and I always wanted him to beat Jerry out. It seems like the organization made the right choice at second base.

Hairston remined me a lot of that outfield we had awhile ago....I forget his name...all this promise but always getting injured and never living up to his potential

Jeffrey Hammonds. I remember them billing him as the next Willie Mays. Didn't quite turn out that way.

I liked Hammonds, i thought he was a good guy, too bad he kept getting hurt all the time. Had a decent year for the O's in '97.

Yeah...thats the name...he never paned out even though he was supposedly awesome but then again that happens....I think he is playing in Colorado now.....
too bad.....but at least there are some good prospects coming up through their system....I really need to be paying more attention to the nationals though...they are my team and I have always hated Angelos...

He last played for the Rockies in 2000, then spent time in Milwaukee and SF...and if you were paying attention, the Nats had him in spring training this year. ;)But mlb.com lists him as not having a current team...guess he didn't make the team

Furthermore, I don't get why people won't root for the O's cause of Angelos. Funky, not pointing my finger at you, but just in general...I can understand not going to camden yards and spending money there, but I don't understand the sudden "boycott" of the O's, just cause he's the owner. If he owned the Skins and pulled similar antics, how many of us would stop being Skins fans? If DC got another football team would we stop watching the Skins?

I agree Spaceman. Angelos isn't a great owner, but why quit pulling for a team you like just to spite the owner??

Yep. And for the record, I'm not a huge fan of his either.
I did read an article awhile ago that had some favorable things to say about him. Remember when Aaron Sele was on the free agent market and the O's were in the running? Well, his physical came back and the team doctor said that without doubt, he was on the verge of an elbow injury and that we shouldn't sign him. Angelos all of a sudden pulled the O's out of the chase, everyone got pissed, but Angelos didn't say anything about why he did what he did. The article said that he didn't give his reasons because he didn't want Sele to have his value damaged while he was still on the market and due for a big payday. I guess that also could be seen as "letting the guy with the gimp arm hopefully go to a rival team" but the article said some other favorable things that I can't totally recall.
But yeah, I generally don't like him. I kind of buy into that argument that he's put a sub-par product on the field intentionally for the past few seasons in hopes to stave off the Expos coming to DC. Moron. If he tried to put a winning team on the field like he did in the late 90's, he wouldn't have to worry about the team losing fans because people will go see a winning team before a losing one. I don't get it, but whatever. He's an ass.

Also, if you notice all his homeruns have been right down the line. Also, the longest shot was probably 4 rows into the stands.

He's gotta jerk it down the line. It's not like he will ever hit one out to dead center, unless the wind is blowing out or he REALLY gets into one. I disagree about his dingers being just over the fence. One of the ones @ OPACY was over the rigth field fence to the back of the gate about 65 feet over the fence.
