View Full Version : WEEK 1: Chicago Bears

I'm penciling this one in as a solid victory, and a kickstart for what will be an exciting season. Am I premature and too confident in this prediction? Yes, but I don't care.
A revamped washington offense will certainly put up more than 13 points against a staunch bears defense. A somewhat weaker Washington Defense will still get the job done despite facing a more potent chicago offense with the return of grossman coupled with muhsin muhammad and possibly a top receiver out of the 2005 draft. Despite these upgrades, Washington will dominate the run game on both sides of the ball, and play well enough in the air to grab the victory. Portis will score at least 1 rushing touchdown to the joy of the fans at fedex, and ramsey will hit at least 1 deep pass to the immense relief of the fans at fedex.
The bears will provide enough of a challenge to preclude a lazy start by the redskins, and fire us up for dallas the next week.
Final score, Washington 24, Chicago 17.

I think people on this site are selling our defense short. Barrow will be back and Gibbs said he would be running in May. LA will be back as well as Bowen. Harris is a strong CB and I believe the year of good rest will make him a better than average CB. This defense will be stronger with Daniels coming back fresh as well and with a second year under Williams we could be the #1 unit.

If you write down any games as a victory before you actually see the teams play, your are setting yourself up for dissapointment. Its the NFL, there are no gimmees, that s what makes it so great!
If you guys are so sure, put your money where your mouths are and bet a donation on the gimmee games to extremskins!?
(hearing crickets)
Lets get to the draft, June signings/cuts, training camp and the preseason before we write anything down.

The NFL likes to set new attendance records for opening weekends every year. The Redskins will rarely if ever play on the road to open the season because we have the biggest stadium.

That's what I am saying. I don't really care if we beat the Bears, so long as we beat Dallass in week 2!

Peanuttillman is currently active on another board I frequent -- nfl-fans.com. He's definitely the resident Redskin hater.

I believe Chicago will be much improved next season.
Who knows how last seasons game would've turned out it they had had a healthy Grossman.

Not sure if you saw my first post in the other thread, but I am a die hard Bears fan. I know of that guy, Peanuttillman. I've seen his/her/it's posts from the Bears' official message board. I don't post over there....I actually ignore anyone from that board because most of them are fair-weathered fans and their opinions mean little. I'm not surprised he/she/it was banned from here!

I can envision us beating the Bears and getting off to a good start.
Problem is ... we've started 1-0 for the last 3 years. Hasn't mattered much later in the season.

I always find it bizarre that we started our last non-losing season 0-5...

Oh yeah.. hmmm I don't remember their defense being that highly rated.. Admittedly I didn't pay attention to them either.
