A co-worker bet me $400 that Mike williams will not be drafted in the top ten because of his year long layoff from football. I guess because he forgot how to play football. what do you think?

Even if MW falls to #9, there is no way he gets past us. Good bet. I wish I knew people like that...

Easy money.
I made a bet similar to that once, in 2001 I think, I bet my friend $10 that Chris Weinke would not get drafted in the 1st round.

i think there's no way he falls past Min at #7 so you just got a cool $400. not to mention he's #1 on the last draft borad that i saw of mel kipers

It's gonna be close. I think he will be there at 9 when the Skins are on the clock. You have to worry about Detroit passing on him at 10 unless someone trades up. I'd say you have a 50/50 shot to win that bet. Should be fun.

50 50 shot?
Dude you have like a 98% shot to win that bet.
The guy you bet with is a complete moron.

not really, he probably didn't consider how strong last years receivers were and how weak this years would be, because Mike Williams wasn't going to be a top 10 pick last year so why would he be one next year?

A good bet,
top seven pick no way he'll be there when the skins hit #9.

He'd never make it past #9.

I'm sorry what is he going to lose? There's no way he drops out of the top 10 unless someone plants maryjane on the indside of his suit pocket on draft day.

I'm pretty sure Mike Williams was projected in the top 10 last year by most, top 15 by the rest.
Here are a few 2004 mocks I found w/ Williams in the top 10, not that they really mean anything:

Other than that, It is possible that MW could slip out of the top ten, but then Dallas would snatch him up at 11, which would be terrible.

Easy money... the glut of WRs last year and his freakish potenial would have probably been enough to make him top 10 last year (instead of Reggie Williams).
I think the lowest MW can get is #7. On a side note... I have a case of beer saying that Jason White won't get drafted in the first round.
!!
I tried to push for more, but at least I'll have something to wet my lips during the endless round 2 which we don't have a pick for.

It'll be interesting if he falls to 9 and we put a trade down scenario out to other teams to see who wants him at 9.... Is it saturday yet?

Ask your friend if he wants to double down. I'll glad pick up the next 400. There are no sure bets in this world, but this is as close as it will ever get.

As I said before, you should be a bit nervous. I think it does not play in your favor that the only visits MW has made are with Dallas and Washington at #9 and #11.
WRs that run 4.6s don't get taken too often in the top 10. Teams aren't too keen on commiting double digit bonuses to rookie WRs who MAY have trouble getting separation on the next level. Add to the fact that this guy only has 2 seasons under his belt and was out of football for an entire year...etc. He also is considered by some teams to be more likely to grow into a Shockey-like tight end. Which isn't a bad thing as long as his head is screwed on right.
As I said before, I very much expect him to be there at 9. Whether we take him or not and you win your bet is another matter.

I think its an easy win for you!
Question though. When my buddies and I make bets its usually for $10, $20 or if we're brave $50.00. Where did you come up with $400.00? Why such a large dumb bet?

You must someplace where they are required to hire people with mental handicaps because your friend is retarded.

I don't know, friend. There is always a player that everyone expects to go high who keeps sliding. Mike Williams keeps falling, ever so slightly, out of the top 10 on many mock drafts.
Sorta like Stephen Jackson last year. I still think you win your bet but I put the odds at like 75-25....not 99 percent like some others in this thread.

you guys have to consider the guy made the bet 4 months ago. Even though it was pretty obivious he would be a top ten pick, you didn't know who was going to declare themselves for the NFL draft then plus you didn't how things might turn out
