View Full Version : ESPN talking skins, #1 pick

Washington interested in #1, they didnt offer two 1st's though. were told thats what it would take, maybe more!
skins4eva
April-21st-2005, 05:09 PM
Palentonio said that the Skins contacted San Fran about moving up to one, and that it would cost the skins at least 9 and 24--no way in hell this is happening, imo

Purely speculation, nothing confirmed!

Mort says Skins would have to offer much more than 9 and 25 to move into 1

I do not think that will happen at all!

Can we offer pick #9, WR Rod Gardner, and Head Racqetball opponent Vinny Cerrato for the #1?

Gibbs said it... they've contacted everyone.
So I guess that means that the media will run 30 seperate stories between now and tomorrow...
"Skins interested in #1!''
"Skins interested in #2!"
"Skins interested in #3!"
....

Gibbs finally accomplished the task of confusing everyone. I give him kudos on a job well done. In this day and age in football, it's almost impossible to keep things under wraps. So, instead of keeping things under wraps, he's shown interest in every alternative possible. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of this mass confusion/mass hysteria under his tenure.

If we all agree that Gibbs is making the decision and he makes the decision to move up. I for one will stand by it. Five picks for one player may sound strange but none of us can evaluate talent like Gibbs. If he feels a player is worth it then so be it. I just want something to happen already.

They both have Italian last names that are either 10 or 11 letters long that start with Pa.
Both their names start with PA (Pennsylvania) for G-d's sake

So far we've just moved into home-field advantage in the 1st wildcard off-season playoff game... As last years champions we are considered an odds on favorite for the draft and maybe our weekafter grand-slam.
I love my skins... I watch them all year win or lose and start getting nervous in November when its almost over.. I always forget about our awesome post-post season.. Maybe next year I'll watch them till January and a boring offseason is in order...
#1 pick money: 2004
NEW YORK (July 29, 2004) -- Top overall draft pick Eli Manning agreed to a six-year contract with the New York Giants that could be worth $54 million and will pay him a rookie-record $20 million signing bonus.
Can the signing bonus only be pro-rated for 5 years instead of 6 like last year?

April-21st-2005, 07:00 PM
I just think all this QB talk is a smokescreen and the reason I think this is because we haven't heard anything from Patrick Ramsey. Remember last year when we signed Brunell and Ramsey was all over the papers complaining, demanding trades, etc. Well if your team drafts a QB in the first round, you can pretty well expect that you are not in the team's future plans so I would expect Ramsey would be more upset about that than bringing in a washed up veteran. I would guess that Gibbs and the FO went to Patrick and told him they are just doing this as a smokescreen. We keep hearing Braylon Edwards, Jason Campbell, Alex Smith but would you be the least bit surprised if we would manuever our way up and draft Mike Williams?

If we are smart we trade down a couple of times. The odds are better if we could have, let's say 4 picks in the first 3 rounds. Let's say two lower 1st round picks, a 2nd and a 3rd. That would make more sense to me. I would venture to say that 2 of the 4 players at least could be real gems.
