View Full Version : Might we draft 2 players for offense?

Traditional speculation has us taking a CB and a WR with our two first round picks assuming we don't trade up or down. I wonder how much better Carlos Rogers/Antrelle Rolle will be this year than who we already have on the roster. Does anyone doubt that we made "the trade” to make a "difference-making" impact this season?
Truly, I'm for whatever Coach Gibbs and his draft team decides to do but the amateur GM in me wonders if we wouldn't be better off this year taking two WR's or even better a WR and a pass catching tight end to help us in the Red Zone.
I think Mike Williams at 9 and Heath Miller at 25 would be cause for celebration. Or how about Mark Clayton and Troy Williams?
Of course, we have needs at DE and CB but will choosing one of those types from this draft have as much impact as adding two blue chip offensive playmakers?
Personally, I hope we trade down just a few picks if Williams isn't there, pick up perhaps a 2nd rounder and pull the trigger on the best available WR and Miller, the TE from Virginia. The draft is deep in CB's and we could pick up a good one with the additional selection in the 2nd if Coach Williams desires.

I believe we are going offense all the way.
What good is a #1 defense if we cant score in the redzone? Our smuf WRs will get dawged in the red zone.

I sure hope we don't trade the #9 and #25 to get Edwards, thereby having one player cost us FIVE draft choices including 3 #1 picks.
No player in this draft is worth anywhere near that kind of deal.
In fact this draft seems to be bereft of the can't miss superstar.
Instead you have a fairly deep draft where guys drafted in the second or third rounds may be as good as the ones drafted among the first 32 picks at many positions.

The best thing we can do for our defense is score points!

I wouldn't mind a combination of Mike Williams/Troy Williamson and Matt Jones/Heath Miller though I don't know how likely that would be.

I agree.
Only I'd venture as far to say that there is NO PLAYER IN THE NFL that would be worth 3 #1 picks.
I'm not kidding when I say that trade would rank up with Herschel Walker...

No player is worth that many picks for a #25. However, Miller is worth the #25 pick. Make sense?

that would be the best case scenario for us to draft. I really hope it comes true. That would improve our offense tremendously. Miller opening up the runing game as well as being and enzone threat. And williams coming down with tons of jump balls. It would be awesome. Especially since our defense doesnt need any help and our offense blows. Im definitely praying for this to happen this weekend.

A set with 2 WRs, Cooley and Miller would be quite nice...

Or how about Mike Williams and Chris Spencer, the center from Miss. State that ESPN calls " one of the premier center prospects of the last 10 years or so"?

I like the idea of taking miller with the 25. Helps the passing game and the running game.
