View Full Version : How would YOU stop (contain) Lebron?

Obviously, Game 1 was a debacle on both ends of the floor.
Focusing solely on Defense, however, we let Lebron torch us for 32 11 and 11.

We put Daniels, Jeffries, and Jamison on him. That didn't work.
We tried a zone/trap D against him...Donyell Marshall and Eric Snow lit us up.

How would you stop Lebron??

Honestly, I would put Jeffries on him for most of the game. Don't help D, because he'll find the open man, who will then find the 2nd open man for the 3. Let Lebron score 80...just shut down the others, and Lebron (hopefully tired in the 3rd quarter) might become frustrated

You also have to make him shoot, because in my opinion, if you had to point out the weakest part of Lebron's game, its his jumper. You also have to make him spend energy on Defense.

So......if you're Eddie Jordan, how would you contain the hype machine??

I think we should just let Jeffries guard him, and when he drives to the hoop, hopefully either Brendan or Etan will seal off the paint...But then we got to hope that he doesn't find a team mate wide open

We can not afford to double team him when he's at the top of the key. Here he can see double teams coming and his great decision making and vision will allow him to make the right pass nine out of ten times. Now, when he's trapped close to the sidelines you have to pounce on him with a double team.

I agree that we should leave JJ on him. The key is to force Lebron to take as many jump shots as possible. If his shot is not falling from 20 feet (and it's usually not) he usually becomes flustered and will start forcing drives to the hoop with wreckless abandon.

They only thing about Jeffries that worries me is he gets into foul trouble often.

you wont stop him..you wont contain him..what you can do is stop everybody else on the team starting with big Z.

He can get his 30 points

We just gotta stop him from getting those 11 assists.

Also, it's essential to push Lebron to his left when he's on his dribble. His left hand is by far the weaker on the dribble and his ability to finish declines with the left as well.

some one has got to make a hard foul on him to let him know that hes not gonna have his way with us anymore.

I don't think anyone on our team can stop him 1 on 1

Like others have said, just stick Jeffries on him and shut down the others. Let Lebron do all the scoring.

In the mean time, the big 2 and a half need to have huge games. Not to mention the bench.

Yes, that was a shot at Jamison =p

Christ guys, we did fine against Lebron in the regular season. He had one great game against us (The first), one good game (The third), and the other times we took him down a few notches. Any player on any day can get hot. And as I saw him play against us, all we hafta do is keep the game close until the 4th quarter, at which point LBJ starts tryin to take over the game an ivariably overreaches. LBJ is nowhere close to ungaurdable.

If he's going to get in the paint anyway then just stick everyone back and let him shoot jump shots.

Good answers, hopefully EJordan will implement some of these things.

I actually think Arenas Ds him pretty well, he just lacks size and we can't have our all-star expending that energy on the defensive end. Caron is a good defender but same thing- we need him to be energized at the offensive end. Thats why I think JJeffries is the answer.

Let Lebron get his (via jumpers), shut down the supporting cast, foul him hard if he gets in the lane.

I didn't want to post a new thread because I don't have a link or anything, but thought you might find this interesting

On Comcast SportsNet, they interviewed EJ at practice. He said, "We dont really have a definitive leader. Jamison has his moments, Caron, and ya know we just don't have that element." ~ rough quote

I think it was a shot back at Arenas when Arenas said he won't watch the tape of last game, because he doesn't need to watch film to know they played like garbage

OR we could:

Sign John Chaney as assistant coach
Sign Nehemiah Ingram to a 10 day contract
and let the Temple goons take care of business

(joke)

 Ingram will never lose the goon tag and deservedly so, but I gotta give him props for sending Nik Caner-Douchebag hurtling through the air in the Temple-UMD game this past season. That play had to be the worst no call I saw all season.
