1. West Virginia – The last time we all gave West Virginia the Big East in July, they lost their last three games of 2004, and had to watch Pittsburgh play in the Fiesta Bowl. The problem for the ‘eers is that with expectations so sky high, anything less than a Top 10 finish is going to look like a disappointment. And they’re going to find out that sneaking up on everyone is a whole lot easier than wearing a target on their jerseys.
A: Three positive surprises this season
1. Virginia Tech - the Hokies are usually most dangerous when they’re underrated. They’ve gotten rid of some ‘me’ characters, and this team could gel as the 2004 team did for another run for a surprising championship. A QB will need to emerge, but if one does, look out.
