Who woulda thought Jamison, not Arenas, would be the one making the U.S. National team? Strange, huh?

I had the opposite thought... who'd of thunk it after the last thirty years of Washington Basketball that a Washington basketball player would ever become a dream teamer?

Arenas just doesnt play the style of PG that Coach K wants. While he is damn good, he isnt the classic point guard like Paul and Heinrich.

Isn't Arenas injured? You make it sound like he was cut

So Gil couldn't win out a PG, but I bet he would at SG.
One day EJ may figure this out. Gil shouldn't be running the team, he should be scoring and playing tough D.

I thought Arenas has a groin injury, didn't he?

Yeah he injured his groind and couldn't go to the world championships because of it. Of course they would had to cut him for that, but not because he wasn't a "Coach K pointgaurd"

You make it sound like he was cut Was just speculation that Gil was cut and they made up an excuse to allow him some saving grace.
It is a tad bit fishy, I have yet to read a single quote from Gil about the injury, all I've seen is the same quote over and over from Jerry Colangelo. Plus, Chris Paul and Hinrich were both playing very well.
I did find this quote from coach K from a strange source on google:
"I am sorry that Arenas got hurt but we need to get down to 12 -- that will be a difficult decision," said coach Mike Krzyzewski.
