^ Let's make it happen!!! Our bigs have to stay out of foul trouble, and on offense attack the basket and try to get Howard in foul trouble. Also, we have to do a good job on Hedo and not let him shoot lights out, especially from behind the arc. Gil, Caron and Antawn will need to keep up their great play and shoot the ball well. Let's go Wiz!

Huge huge game for us. We need to keep doing what we're doing....Orlando scares me...Grant Hill is old and beat up but still can get it done. Arroyo can go off...the Turk can shoot...and we all know about Howard.

Haywood needs to keep it up and be physical.

And always....HIBACHI!

This is the problem as the team stands today. Haywood can rack up fouls and we have nothing behind him till at least next Wednesday.

Sangaila isnt going to help until after mid Feb. and by them it may be to late.

I pray Blatche gets to the point were he can be relied on at least enough to come in and do what he did last game... rebound..rebound...rebound.

If thats all he added to the team, that would get him the PT needed to get him to the next step. We need another talented big and Blatche could be that man. I believe this kid is going to be something special.

Yeah, but he can board. I'll take that.

I don't think his footspeed is THAT slow...he's 6'9 with long legs...with what he doesn't have in speed, he makes up for it in size of his stride. That and his footwork is good, he makes it work for him.

He's a double double every night...I'll sacrifice defense with him.

had a 4 point lead with 12 seconds, they hit a 3 we missed both free throws and they missed a shot with 3 seconds left so we won by 1.

Nice win. Too close for comfort.

Yea, Jamison had a double double, but his play was bad at times. His defense was poor and the turnovers were killer.

Wow...we really got lucky tonight. Did not deserve to win at all. We did everything in our power to hand the Magic the game. Stupid turnovers, generally sloppy play, and of course Haywood's injury didn't help either. That smallball lineup hurt us bad but I can't blame EJ for it too much as there just weren't enough bodies out there. I think playing Jamison at C was the best option he had because then at least we have a lineup thats capable of scoring.

Its looking right now like this team, the starters anyway, are starting to wear out because theres absolutely no help from the bench. Again not anyones fault in particular. Injuries to Thomas and Songaila and Hayes continuing to not really be a factor is hurting us. I like the contribution we got from Booth though, but the guy can't go 10 seconds in the paint without commiting a foul. I would have liked to see Blatche get some minutes late when we want small ball. He can't possibly be worse than Hayes.

I can't believe I'm saying this but in his entire career as a Wiz I never not once shouted YES and pumped my first when I saw Haywood enter the game but I did tonight. The Magic were just getting points with no degree of difficulty but as soon as Haywood, even with the hurt ankle came in, we were getting stops. Gilbert can score as much as he wants but without Haywood clogging up the paint this team isn't a 1st place team. He still needs to work on some things but he's playing great ball for us.

Caron Butler...man I can't be mad at him. He drilled a clutch shot to give us the lead in the first place. How the hell did he miss those Free Throws...I declare it a fluke. It will never happen again. But if we lost the game I'm sure half the forum would be on here demanding that he be traded. Such is the life of a D.C. athlete.

Anyway I'm glad we won and I'm glad we're in first place but our win streak is probably going to come to an end shortly. Doesn't mean we're going to go on a prolonged slump or anything but all good things come to an end eventually. Having to play a fourth game in five nights tomorrow in Milwaukee could end the streak. But we'll see, this Wizards team has proven doubters wrong all year.

1st place Wizards...I can not believe what I am seeing....this team, no this franchise has come a looooooong way since the horrific dark days of the 90s. Perhaps our loyalty is finally starting to pay off?

good post. I was so mad at caron when he missed those ft's but i agree it was a fluke. I can see us winning the next two but losing against the clippers

Dwight Howard is a beast BTW. His shoulders are huge. Definitely a freak of nature. The Magic get him and we got Kwame. Oh well.

And what happened to JJ Reddick?

Warhead36
December-29th-2006, 10:49 PM
I think JJ still has back problems. There were rumors around draft day that he could miss the first 3-4 months of the season because of his back i.e. another T-Mac situation.

I would have liked to see him try to guard Gil, although him standing there open behind the 3 point line may not have been as pretty of a sight. ;)

“Well, they’ve got a little bird down there named Gilbert who’s not too bad,” Dooling said. “He’s one of those guys who’s special. He’ll go down in history as being one of the greatest. He showed his greatness in the second half. He just turned it on and it’s almost impossible to guard him.”

I think it's pretty amazing we've made this run with basically no frontcourt. No Etan, Ruffin, or Songalia. Haywood has been getting into foul trouble too. Calvin "I'm Coming Outta Da" Boothe is good for six fouls a game and that's about it. Jamison playing alot of center, along with a few minutes from two high schoolers has held it down. Respect!

That's a nice quote by Dooling. I have a lot of respect for him, and the great game off the bench he had last night.

That game was too close for comfort. I didn't understand why Caron played so little in the 4th? And why EJ left Haywood on the bench during that stretch when we had Jamison at C guarding Howard? Gil came up big in the 4th. I was surprised that Jamison missed 5 free throws. And when Caron missed those 2 at the end, I couldn't believe it. I was glad to see that we out-rebounded the Magic.
A win is a win. We're in 1st. Let's keep it up!!!

Caron didnt play that much because he was kind of out of sync with the team and turning the ball over alot according to EJ
