With Arenas going down for at least half of the Season:cry: Abe needs to let Grunfeld shop around for a diamond in the rough or a deal only he might know about. It's time to go over the salary cap and not worry about the implications of the luxury tax. Arenas signed for less! What did we get for that? Dee Brown? WTF! Last year we didn't have enough bodies to even practice. The Assistant coachs had to suit it up a few times. If we think we can go another season wearing down Caron and Antwann, and expecting them to have enough energy or a playoff push....we are kidding ourselves. Point blank....ABE OPEN UP YOUR CHECKBOOK! Stop being soo cheap!
BTW- I don't have any suggestions on who we should bring in. I do fully believe that Grunfeld has some answers if Abe will allow the team to go over the cap this season.

Why would Abe change his colors now? He always has been cheap.
On the Capitals side, we had talent over the years to actually win a stanley cup, he consistantly went the cheap route.
On the Wizards side, we consistently just went with whatever we had, coached by whomever he felt was a nice person.
As a wizards fan, I am just happy to see a team that is worth watching.

I'd rather he just spend the money on the best doctors and trainers you can possibly get. Our medical staff has been a joke for years. Improve that and you're looking at a 5-10 win improvement at least.

Actually he's not been so cheap over the years. He overpaid for Juwan, paid for Webber, paid for Stickland, paid for Antawn, paid for Butler and overpaid for Gil. The problem has been poor drafts, poor FA signings, overpaying (Etan) and injuries. For once in the last 15 years he hasn't been cheap, we just can't seem to get the team together, but with that said, I wish he'd sell the team and GTFO. I've NEVER like him as an owner, even in the championship years. Hiring Gene Shue was the start of 30 years of sucking.

I agree with you...but i do feel it is necessary NOT TO LET THE LUXURY TAX effect Grunfeld'd decisions on picking up a new piece to our puzzle. It seems to me that Abe has given Grunfeld complete control over personnel decisions with only one exception. DO not go over the Salary Cap. I just believe that our window of opportunity ( Winning The East ) is slipping. We need to start off strong without jeopardizing BIG Minutes for Caron and Antwann.

You're right that we need one more piece to the puzzle, however, I don't know what is out there right now. It was a pretty weak FA year. I don't want to overspend on a nobody. These long term contracts seem to hold us down every year from picking up that player to take us to the next level.

Did Abe read my post? That was quick in picking ip Juan Dixon. Let's hope this move makes a difference.

I love that Dixon is back. They should have never let him or Blake go. They work VERY well together.

Blake and Dixon together do not equal Gil in offensive talent.....both are better passers and defenders in comparison but you lose alot of firepower and you cant replace that there. You need a great quality big to replace Gil's scoring and to provide solid defense.

The Nats owners are cheap.
Abe? Abe paid for the Phone Booth. Not only did he not rape the District, ala the Lerners, he single-handedly revived a part of the city (and perhaps more than just a part.)
He also built the Capital Centre back in the day. For a long time that was considered the premier arena in the League.
Abe isn't a bad guy. He just put his faith in the wrong people, i.e. WES UNSELD.

I did defend the guy. He used to be cheap, but he's really tried to get the best players, but for whatever reason, like I said in my previous post, things haven't worked out. I guess I got jaded on Abe because of the late 70's and through the 80's. We won a championship in 77 and like you said, he kept putting his faith in Wes. It seemed like he held on to that one lone championship too long. Abe thought the magic of the 70's Bullets would rub off on the 80's Bullets.
I appreciate the Phone Booth. I think I remember a story one time when the Bulls came to town and Jordan asked one of the Bullets if he could buy some lights for the Capital Centre. He said it was too dark in there.
