Ralph F. was on ESPN radio today talking about the upcoming season. It turns out the Terps open on the road vs. Northern Illinois U. So the Terps pretty much are starting out 0-1. The game is in DeKalb, Ill. DeKalb, as you all know, is the birthplace of barbed wire (invention of which is credited to Joseph Glidden), a strain of feed corn identified by a flying ear of corn (the Dekalb Flyer) and Cindy Crawford.
Fridgen acknowledged that Maryland would concede about 220 yards to Michael Turner, the Huskies returning RB who went over 1,900 last year (well, you had to sort of read between the lines on that one, but the trained ear could pick up on his desparation).
By the way, I don't know if I mentioned this in the past, but I'm a Northern Illinois U. alumnus. :D
