Ralph F. was on ESPN radio today talking about the upcoming season. It turns out the Terps open on the road vs. Northern Illinois U. So the Terps pretty much are starting out 0-1. The game is in DeKalb, Ill. DeKalb, as you all know, is the birthplace of barbed wire (invention of which is credited to Joseph Glidden), a strain of feed corn identified by a flying ear of corn (the Dekalb Flyer) and Cindy Crawford.

Fridgen acknowledged that Maryland would concede about 220 yards to Michael Turner, the Huskies returning RB who went over 1,900 last year (well, you had to sort of read between the lines on that one, but the trained ear could pick up on his desparation).

By the way, I don't know if I mentioned this in the past, but I'm a Northern Illinois U. alumnus. :D

Sorry TC ... you lost me at Cindy Crawford. :)

(I'm easily distracted like that)

How did a school like NIU get Maryland to come to their place?

All I know is that the Terps looked great in the Peach Bowl last year....and will compete just fine in 03.

Kelley is now playing defense (safety). McBrien is defintaley the best QB on the roster.

Maryland is playing at both NIU and Central Michigan basically as the result of poor scheduling under former coach Ron Vanderlinden.
