View Full Version : OT: Is LeBron all that?

Out here in Ohio, the LeBron factor has been astounding. Last season, the Cavs averaged less than 13K in attendence and had ZERO sell outs. LeBron sold out each of the handful of games he played at the Gund, the Cavs home arena. Obviously, James was a man among boys in HS.

For those that watch the NBA, do you think that James is really all that and a bag of chips? Do you think he will even start? I not so sure that he will cause anything othar than a bump in attendence.

I think he will eventually be a very good if not great player in the NBA. However, I think this year will be a rude awakening for him. It's one thing when you have some punk high school kid guarding you every night. It's a totally different matter when you have Gary Payton, Jason Kidd, etc. guarding you every night. It will be very interesting to track his growth. I just feel bad for Paul Silas because no matter what happens, he will not get any credit. If Lebron plays really well it will be all because of Lebron, but if Lebron doesn't do well then it will be all Paul Silas fault.

I think in 5 years it'll be one of those drafts where everybody is saying "They should of taken Carmello" or somebody else.

I think James has great potential but the bullseye on his chest is too huge right now and every all star is going to crush him for the next 2 years.

I kind of agree with Bufford. The expectations on LeBron are a little to much and with the Cavs, he doesn't have much help, looks like a tough road to me.

The one big thing is Lebron will sell out the house even with a crappy team. Carmelo woudn't be able to do that. It will be interesting to see what happens though.

It's easy to say he can't possibly live up to the hype. But I did watch him every chance I got. Those other high school teams he played were incredibly good and he went through them like 'salts through a widow woman' (as they'd say in west Tennessee).

To rout Oak Hill as they did, I'm thinking the kid is the next Magic Johnson. Of course, even Magic put in some time at Michigan State.

But in the watered-down NBA, LeBron will excel.

I only watched one of his games on ESPN last year, but it looks to me like he's just an early bloomer. If he continues to develop his game, he could eventually be a quality NBA starter. But the NBA is full of 6'7", 6'8" guys who can shoot. I don't think he's anything special...yet.

yeah he beat up on those High School kids......but Carmello got it done against a much tougher group. A freshman leading a team in the NCAA's to a title?

Totally agree with you, the Cavs couldn't have picked anyone else, even if they really thought one of the other 2 players were better, LeBron was the only choice they could make. It will definatly help the Cavs sell out games and spark fan interest. It's up to LeBron to keep the interest going though.

I wouldn't expect much his first 1-2 years.... greeting that NBA competition is going to me a motha, especially with skipping college.

To Jabooma's point, at least he will sell tickets...

I like LeBron chances to become one of the best NBA players ever. He has all the tools, and the intagiables to become an amazing player. I like Carmello, but James is more explosive than Anthony. Have you guys seen the bounce dunk which he caught with two hands backwards?, enough said. The most amazing thing about LeBron is the best part of his game is passing the ball. He might have us saying MJ who?

To think what might have happened had Jordan not blessed us with his comeback...
