When Kidd signs with the spurs, the NY Times just said that Parket would want out of San Antonio, what would it take to get parker from them?

I think the Wiz should jump on this in a heartbeat if giving the opportunity, Hughes for Parker maybe.

That has been my thought all along. If Kidd leaves then go after Parker. I think that kid will be a star in this league.

i thought i read an interview this week where parker said he would play alongside kidd... possibly as the SG.... not that i believe he could fill that roll.

Hughes for Parker would not be enough... Perhaps Hughes, Laettner and a pick. Though I'm not quite sure if that would work cap wise. I strongly believe the Spurs could get quite a bit for Parker, but that's just IMHO.

I disagree, everyone in the league knows that he doesn't want to be there. I believe his contract runs up after next year anyway. The other teams know that San is going to have to give him up an not for much.

I think that the only reason that Parker doesn't seem to want to be there is because there is all this talk about Kidd coming to the Spurs and replacing him and the Spurs haven;t come out and said no we aren't going to do that, as affirmation to Parker

Parker feels disrespected, he had a good run in the playoffs, showed great promise, and they're still ready to sign someone to take his spot. Can't say I blame him for wanting to leave.

He has his ring, so the incentive to play for a contender isn't that big. I think the Wizards have an outside shot of getting him here, but it'll likely be a team "on the cusp" of greatness and not a squad trying to get better.

That's funny, I thought I was the only one pining for this possible outcome. I'd give up a lot to get Parker. Maybe Hughes AND Haywood (hell, throw in the rights to Juan Carlos Navarro too). A Tony Parker/Jerry Stackhouse backcourt with Hayes/Jeffries at the 3, and Kwame/Etan/Jahidi/L8ner sharing time in the frontcourt (with Jeffries pulling a bit of duty at the 4 as well) is pretty damn solid, if you ask me.

To be honest I think Hughes and Haywood would not be enough to get Parker. Why would the Spurs want Hughes?

Hughes can jump into the rotation at the 2-spot (people are skeptical the Spurs will be able to keep Manu in a few years when he becomes a free agent, and provide some insurance at the 1. Haywood is a genuine 7-footer, sucky as he may be, and if O'Neal and Brand stay with their current teams, the Spurs will be in need of some more big bodies in the front court.

I like Haywood. Can't we just get rid of Laettner and Hughes?

Haywood is the very definition of "stiff".

He never hustles to get loose balls. For his size and strength, he still gets punked by forwards and centers smaller than him. He can never get 3 point plays, and he's never aggressive enough to be dominant in rebounding.

With Kwame, at least we know he's raw and can get better. These issues with Haywood are the small problems he's had since playing for North Carolina. He's simply never going to be much good to us, a backup at best.

There is a reason that the opposition calls him "Brenda."

I believe Laettner is the definition of stiff. I'd be suprised if the guy could bend his back 2 degrees in any direction! At least Haywood can play a little defense. You can't teach size.
