Look at where all the good free agents are going?

The good free agents seem to be picky about where they are going. They want to be on teams with a legitimate chance of winning. I've heard that next summer the Wizards will have a lot of cap space. But Kidd, Payton, Malone, O'Neall (same team) have avoided crappy teams. Where is that going to leave the Wizards next year?

The Wiz need to find a way to get it done with some underrated blue-collar guys ala the Pistons the past few years. If they can get into the playoffs and appear to be on the rise, some FA's will come.

Are we forgetting that only a few seasons ago, the Nets were a laughingstock.

You CAN change your fortunes around in the NBA with shrewd drafting (i.e. not like the Wizards) and skillful FA picks (i.e. unlike the Wizards).

Heck, as much as I rag 'em, I'll bet we're not that far off. But a lot of things would have to work out right (e.g. the emergence of Kwame, Jeffries being a real contributor when healthy, Jarvis Hayes not being a stiff, Jahidi remaining healthy etc.) and the luck of the Wizards has not been good.
