Washington Wizards guard Jerry Stackhouse was arrested Sunday on suspicion of assault stemming from an alleged disagreement with a real estate agent, ESPN has learned.
It is not known yet whether Stackhouse has been formally charged.
The arrest stems from a supposed dispute with the agent over rented beach property in the Atlantic Beach, N.C., area that led to Stackhouse allegedly making contact with the agent, who is female.
Stackhouse, an eight-year NBA veteran, just finished his first season with the Wizards after being acquired in a six-player trade with the Detroit Pistons that sent Richard Hamilton to Detroit. Stackhouse originally was drafted third overall in 1995 by the Philadelphia 76ers. He spent two-plus years in Philadelphia before being traded to Detroit.
Stackhouse was born about 70 miles from Atlantic Beach, in Kinston, N.C., and attended the University of North Carolina for two years before heading to the NBA.
Stackhouse has averaged 21.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game in 582 career games.

Don't really know what to make of this. It definitely doesn't look good for Stackhouse, but we need to know more information before passing judgement.

" He attempted to grab the lease from the woman, but grabbed her instead, Kilpatrick said.
She felt threatened and went to the magistrate's office to take out a warrant, police said."
Are you effing serious??? For the cops to even issue an arrest warrant for this garbage is a total joke.

Good riddance -- get the criminal off the street! Lord knows he's stolen so many bad looks at the hoop over the past year, he deserves some time (about two years, to compensate for the time he should've spent in college) to think about his errors!

This is a non issue, he thought he was staying till monday, the landlord said no sunday and he went for the lease and she freaked. Stackhouse is one of the better NBA players since all the work he does for his charrity, this is such a shame of an arrest and all the charges and everything will be dropped.

I'm trying to think when the last time was I grabbed something out the hand of an older woman. Hmmmmm....maybe never?
I'm not saying it's a big deal, because it doesn't sound like one, but at the least, Stackhouse was being stupid.

Oh boy, it gets better. From the Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A56360-2003Jul14.html) :
" The source said Stackhouse insisted on seeing the rental agreement and was trying to examine it when he unintentionally touched the woman when she turned away from him.
The source said Stamper immediately called police. Stackhouse went downstairs to wait for officers. Stackhouse and the two women told police their version of events. The police left without making an arrest because there were no signs that an assault had occurred, Kilpatrick said. They issued a warrant for Stackhouse's arrest after Nagy filed a complaint against the player with the magistrate.
In his statement to the media, Stackhouse said he was enjoying a family gathering when the incident began. Neighbors said today that between 75 and 150 people showed up at the rental home wearing T-shirts that read: "Stackhouses and Dawsons, a family that prays together stays together."
On Saturday afternoon, family members went door-to-door asking neighbors if they would mind if cars were parked in the narrow street in front of their homes. There were three massive grills, a large tent and dozens of cars in front of Stackhouse's rental home, said Brantley Peck, who lives across the street from the house.
"We could hear people talking and laughing but we were amazed that so many people were so well behaved," Peck said. "There was no trouble whatsoever. On Sunday morning, they had a minister give a service in the tent. The whole weekend, they were very respectful of their neighbors."
Stackhouse signed autographs for those neighbors who allowed his guests to park their cars in their driveways."
Makes you wonder doesn't it....
