What the creator of this message board said is sort of true,but it is also ignorant at the same time. Maryland in any other conference would not be in this situation. Big east, Big ten, Conference Usa......etc. We play top tier opponents night in and nightn out...not to mention we have the youngest squad in the ACC. In a few years, with gary Williams tutoring this team, we will be a national powerhouse again. Also not to mention they can still make the tourney with two more victories and a decent run in the ACC tournament which is very possible. think long and hard about all factors involved. I bleed burgundy and gold.....and i LOVE THE TERPS!!!!!!!

John Gilchrist is a beast. Hes from my high school and is going to be one of the top players in the country by his senior year.

They are just young and need time to develop. In two years theyre gonna be nice.

The Terps will be the team to beat for the next couple of years. They have 10 freshman and sophomores with no real impact juniors and seniors. Plus, they got some good signees coming in next year. Wait till Gilchrist, Caner-Medley, Ibekwe, Fofana, Strawberry, etc. to develop, MD will be awesome.

This team does exactly what TALENTED young teams do. They show flashes of brilliance coupled with agonizing periods where they can't throw the ball in the ocean.

I am sorry, but I love this team.

They are going through growing pains sure enough, but they will be fine. I am still trying to figure out who my next Juan Dixon (favorite Terp) will be, but I have some ideas.

Anyone notice how Chris McCray decided not to sit and sulk about D.J. Strawberry starting ahead of him?

Anyone notice exactly how bitter a pill it is for John Gillchrist to accept losing?

Anyone notice Nick Caner-Medley hustling after balls even when the opposition has the inside track?

Granted. The free throw shooting and decision making has not been the best this season. What pains me more is the fact that the Terps are a very weak team in defending the three. The flashes of brilliance have been unmistakeable though. With no true STARS contemplating leaving and this team in tact for the next 2 seasons, Gary will take this team DEEP in the field of 65 next year and the year after.

Say what you want about MD not being as bad as UVA, but they are tied in the standings. Loser of the last game will be headed to the play-in game and then probably Duke.

Not looking good for the Terps to make the NCAA. They have to win at least 4 more games (2 regular season + 2 ACC tourny games).

fellas...I have been following the Terps longer than any of you. my mother was a professor at umd until recently retiring. I have been there in the good years and the bad ones. I actually attended the greatest college b-ball game ever played: the double overtime contest between UMD and David Thompson's NC ST ACC championship.

this team has some fundamental problems. most can be fixed...but not all.

1) They are weak off the offensive boards.Can be fixed.

2) They can't hit free throws. Can be fixed.

3) They can't hit 3 ptrs. I don't see anyone on the roster who will fix this problem. Jones doesn't look like he has what it takes for this level.

Maryland keeps losing for the same reasons: turnovers, poor free throw shooting, poor offensive rebounding and lack of 3 pt production. I see this cast of characters improving next season - but I donb't seem them catching up to the rest of the conference who will also be getting better.

A lot of the mistakes they make are just rookie mistakes which will take care of themselves. I see them being better next year, and being a force the year after. Just look at the experience Blake brought last year as a senior, and what Duhon brings to Duke this year as a senior.

Explain to me why they suck so bad in your eyes? Freethrows? yea they are pretty poor in that regard and I agree but this doesn't mean they suck.

I seem to remember something oh yea what basketball team leads the nation in blocks? How does an RPI in the 30's qualify as suck?

Before you come bashing on the Terps make sure you know that they suck and not say it. This team is well above mediocrity and to me that doesn't even come close to the word suck!

As an absolute, free and clear of the ACC, they do not suck. They don't even look mediocre. They are a very good team. However, it's very easy to lose them this year in the ACC, with NCST, UNC, GT, and Wake all being very good, not to mention Duke. I think that's why.

I've most likely been following Terp basketball longer than any of you. I was there the very first season Lefty appeared and have attended games for seaon after season. this team simply looked bad through out most of the season. I must confess.....the last 2 or 3 games they are starting to elevate their game: multiple players are hitting key shots; foul shot per centage has gone up; they still get beat too often on the offensdive bords, but they are doing much better; they are executing plays better; the big menare finally having a presence; the guards are providing more of an outside threat.....I'll eat my words - they are finally starting to look like a real ACC basketball team.

I think somewhere along the line you learned the difference between attacking an idea and attacking a person. chalk it up to the excesses of youth....right?

the terps played well for 3 games. They aren't ACC Champs - they are the tournament champs: small distinction you should know.

As I have more history with Maryland than any of you...water off a ducks back. I'm happy they won. I'm happy they elevated their game to an entirely different level. I'm happy they finally found some folks who can stick the treys. I'm happy they made a respectable per centage of their free throws.

Fitz & Monte........there is the regular season Champion and there is the tournament cahmnpion. Also, back in the day of the greatest game ever played in College B-ball only the tournament champ went to the NCAAs. but..........I appreciate the polite poke in the chest! yea......guess I have been a little full of myself! Even so.....like the rest of you....I'm glad the Terps won and that Duke was the victim: somehow that got lost in the sauce.

All I read was your first post. You said something stupid, you should be able to take the heat from it. Maybe you said it after watching some bad game or something, who knows. The bottom line is you should think before you speak. Did you expect MD to play like that in the ACC tourny with Gary coaching them?? Give the coach some respect and the team.

For a fan I don't know if you were being critical or you meant it. If I said on this board that the redskins can't get a first down, they have a pathetic coaching staff and they will be lucky enough to average 10 points a game, how do you think everyone will react??

Last I checked it is children that go off on tangets and say things that make no sense, just like your first post.

Now if you started I don't think MD will do to well because of this, that, and maybe a little more this. But you started a thread that said Terps will continue to SUCK!!

You call yourself a fan but what did you expect from a team that is the youngest in the ACC yet they still won 7 ACC games in the toughest conference in all of the NCAA's. They also beat UNC, NC State, Florida.... I guess also if they SUCK like you said then how is it possible they went NC beat the #1, #2, and #3 seeded teams in the ACC tourny.
