how do you think we will do next year? its not a given that each of our players will get better but hopefully the experience helps us out. we might end up having a 8 or 9 man rotation, that would be some excellent depth. Gilchrist, NCM, mcray, strawberry, garrison, ebekwe, fofana, james gist(signed with us), mike jones, and any other person we bring in. what a lineup that would be if they all improved over the offseason. i am excited for next year but i still want to go to the tourney this year.

I'm sayin elite 8 next year then at least final four if not championship the year after that. Strawberry will be one of the best defensive players in ncaa, he already almost is. Jones will grow and tear it up from 3. Gilchrest and Caner Medley will become great senior leaders and Ebekwe will be dominant as will Fafana. I can't freakin wait!!!

The terps will be a sweet 16 team next year.

It depends on what happens to the other teams in the ACC. However, if MD keeps their core players together, they have a shot at making an impact in the tourny. I don't think they'll get farther than the sweet 16 though. But who knows...

the core group of players will be back. there is no one on the team who will go league, the only player leaving is jamar smith, and thats not a big blow at all. having that much depth and one more year of experience for all those kids is huge. we should be a force next year

Reports are that Jones is going to transfer... He is displeased with his lack of playing time.... Unfortunatly for Maryland as they should improve so is every other team in the acc

Really, I hadn't heard any of this (I'm not exactly in the loop, though). I can't blame Williams for Jones' lack of playing time; frankly, I haven't been too impressed with him so far. And a lot of the mistakes I see the guys making are stupid, freshman mistakes that they shouldn't make next year (or at least not as much, at any rate).

well well, looks like most of our major problems have been addressed and fixed. this team improved tremendously over the past couple weeks. my theory is that they sophs this year finally started to click together after not having much time at all their freshman year. the thing that is scary is the fact that ebekwe, DJ, and fofana all get good PT this year and they have developed good chemistry with the sophs this year. we shouldnt have a slow start next year and we could be extremely good. as for the tournament it looks like everyone has found thier role and they are thriving in it. the exception in the starting lineup seems to be NCM, he seems to have become a little passive on the offensive end but has stepped it up on the defensive side. if he starts knocking down his shots i dont see us losing in the tournament, assuming DJ is allright.

Jones isn't leaving. His roll was huge against Duke and next year it'll be even bigger.
They team will be the same except for Smith. Only one new guy on the team it looks like I think.
So, I think they can make a run for the ACC regular season title. I think Duke will lose a number of guys this year including that Freshman they have Lui or whatever his name is.
This type of ACC title is just what the program needed. It will lead to a strong freshman class in 06-07.

The terps have 2 recruits for next year Sterling Ledbetter a JC transfer from Allaganey and James Gist... The big problem for the terps is they are loosing their only inside threat .... Garrison and Ibwuke don't play well with their back to the basket.

Gilchrist will leave after next year. If he dominates and Maryland gets to the elite 8 he might leave this year. He is already predicted top 25 pick.

Where did you hear that from John? He is not an NBA ready ... Does that mean he wont leave ? no but does then name Omar Cook ring a bell?

rterps,
what makes you say that? he is only a freshman right? If there is one thing that gary is consistantly good with it is developing and finding big men. bauers is going to ride the bench a lot, but hopefully by his junior or senior year he can contribute some solid minutes.

rterps,
not sure I agree that Bowers is garbage (I think he can be Mardesich) but what Gary was probably thinking was he wanted to establish a pipeline to get Rudy Gay (both played at Spalding). That failed obviously.
As for next year, look for big contributions from Fofana.

Who is going to be the backup for gilchrist next year and who are we bringing in to be our new inside threat?

how many 7 footers are there in the country who can shoot and play ball? not many.....we are lucky to have this guy on our team. i see him knock down threes in warmups like its nothing. trust me, wait till he gets stronger and learns some technique. he will be a force. im not saying he will start anytime soon, but having a 7 footer come off the bench would be amazing for this team.

Bowers is far too slow. My friend (whose dad coached against him in highschool) told me that he'd be garbage. I didn't want to believe him, but I was expecting the worst. Unfortunately, it's true.

Maryland is bringing in Sterling Ledbetter from Allaganey....
As far as Bowers goes I saw him play in High School. He is soft and barely averaged 10 pts a game in Hign School. He is 7 feet tall and averaged 10 pts a game in high school?

you cant pass up on bringing in a 7 footer, period. bowers was not highly recurited and no one thinks much of him but a lot of our recruits have been like that (dixon, blake). gary has developed many players into stars, i think gary can atleas develop bowers into a solid player.

7 feet with good coaching should get him to be an above average bench player, if he puts in the time and effort.
No one expects him to start, but that's what fofana is for. Fofana has some nice moves and can defend alright. He needs to work on a few things, but being a big man is harder than it looks. I think he'll improve and be our big man next year.
At least, I hope....
