BYU vs Maryland would of been a great game. BYU had a better game against The Orangeman then the Terps did. I bet if BYU would of won, the Cougs would of been able to beat the Terps.

Are you talking about basketball? If you are, as someone who is from SLC and works for one of the major papers around here, I don't think the outcome would have been any different. The BYU offense was designed around their center, Rafael Araujo. He is quick tempered and gets into foul trouble very easily. The rest of the team has been off and on this year with their play and struggled to make their shots most of the season. When they got to the tourney, they fell off of their hot streak they had going into the conference tourney and lost their edge.

There was no clear powerhouse team that dominated the Mountain West this year and I don't think any of them could have won in the tournament (which they didn't), no matter what type of favorable matchup they drew. They just didn't have the talent to match up with the teams they were facing. Maryland was hot at the right time and they beat a lot of teams whereas BYU was one of the last at-large teams to get in and lost to teams like Utah State, who didn't make the tourney even though the team was ranked. BYU would not have beaten the Terps.

Remember though, BYU did beat Oklahoma St.

Yes, but they lost a few key games in the middle of the season as well. They had one quality win there but they lost a couple of games they should have won.

That's true, the Utah St. game hurted them. They also lost a lot of key games on the road. I still think Maryland would have a tough time against BYU.

I think Maryland would have ran away with it in the second half. Araujo was the only force BYU had on the inside and Maryland could have controlled that aspect of the game and forced BYU to win with their shooters, which in my opinion aren't all that great. I think Maryland, like Syracuse, just had too much depth to deal with. That in the end would have hurt BYU the most and given away the game.

I am just responding to what the man has asked for comments on. Living in Utah, I feel I have some knowledge on the topic but I never expected to be having a debate like this on this board. Oh well, there are all sorts of things to discuss if you want.
