Carmelo and Lebron should've shared the ROY honor, AT LEAST. Anthony was the better player this season, 'Melo also got his team into the playoffs and lead his squad in scoring. LJ didn't do these things.
It just shows that everything in the NBA is decided by popularity. The Rookie of the Year, the All-Star game, and especially the Lakers!

I dont know if i agree. Lebron was incredible this year. He is a top 15 player in the league right now. Rookie of the year is not a team award, it is an individual award and Lebron was better overall than Carmelo. But either guy couldve won it, cause they are both so great

Lets see...Carmelo averaged more points and more rebounds per game...shot with a better field goal percentage/free throw percentage...and is in the playoffs....but Lebron wins the award.
My vote would have went to Carmelo.

But that is just what I mean, Carmelo was more successful this season overall. I disagree on saying Lebron is Top 15 in the league right now, I could name 15 players that are better at this time.

Lebron also played in high school last year and he played more minutes per game, which I guess didnt take a toll on his body? Lebron is better, it is as easy as that. Melo had a much better supporting cast with a great point guard all year. Lebron is going to be up there ith jordan, maybe better, when he is done playing.

So who are the 15 better?

It is a little funny that Carmello got all the attention for Denver's inprovement... I beleive that Andre Miller had as much to do with it as Carmello

So you're basically saying Lebron deserved it because you "think" he will be a better player? Carmelo had a better season, that can't be disputed. People bring up the supporting cast thing, but they likely wouldn't have been close to the playoffs if they didn't draft Carmelo.
His stats are all better than Lebron's, except for assist. Don't be surprised if that continues in the future.

I agree that they are both incredible players, but Lebron did not have a great supporting cast that melo had. The Cavs had no bench, no pint for most of the year, other than Lebron. He played point for most of the year which is not his natural position.

Nice list but no way JRich is better, Ray Allen-questionable, Webber-questionable, Yao-dont know if he is better now, but he is a giant and very skilled.

J-Rich is probably one of the few players in the league that is actually more talented than Lebron. He's also a better scorer and dunker, his game isn't complete. But neither is LJ's, his shooting is just as erratic.
The only minus to Ray Allen as a player is his leadership ability, other than that, he's a better player than Lebron. Although I don't expect that to remain that way as time goes on.
Don't be decieved by Webber's recent performance, he's still injured. If he was 100% I doubt you would question his superior play on the court. Yao is probably better than 90% of the league off height and size alone, yet he's better than even more because he can actually play, unlike many big men in the NBA today.

Anthony is Glen Robinson version 2.0. Hell, Robinson was MUCH better in his rookie year than Melo. Anthony doesn't play defense well and is a below average passer. Lebron's passing ability and weight to his team make him the ROY.

Glenn Robinson's and Carmelo's rookie stats are almost identical. They both averaged 21 points a game, with 6 rebounds and 2 assist. How is his rookie season MUCH better?

I just wanted to say that after watching the 1st half of the mavs game, Webber is starting to look like a top 5 player in the NBA. 1 assist shy of a triple double in the first half, that aint bad

Lebron deserved it. Mello had the better supporting cast, and guess what he played college ball. Lebron came into the league from HS with so much pressure on himself, way more then Mello and he performed better then anyone ever thought. He averaged 20 - 5 - 5 a game and only 2 rookies have ever done that Jordan and Oscar.
Lebron deserved it more, and unlike Mello he didn't quit in a game, that hurt Mello a lot.

Maybe Much was too strong a word, but Glenn's field goal % of 45.1% is very good for a rookie. I actually think Anthony's game is the same as Big Dog's. Big Dog was the more consistent and deadly shooter, whereas Anthony is a better attacker off the dribler. I don't see the superstar potential of Carmelo though.

Here is the reason why lebron james shouldve and did win rookie of the yr honor.
Anthony led the Denver Nuggets into the playoffs, averaging 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists. But James, 19, was only the third rookie in NBA history to average at least 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists, joining Oscar Robertson and Michael Jordan.
Only MJ and Oscar did it. I repeat Only MJ and Oscar did it.

LOL
Melo's avg in pts and rebound is like only .5 higher than lebron james.
Look at the difference in assts. Rare taht Rookies avg that high in assts that are not PGs.
again ONLY MJ and Oscar are the only two to 20-5-5.

These are our best NBA players?
LOL man NBA's talent has gone down the drain.
No wonder overall pts, scoring, shooting %....... has gone down so much. Games are mostly boring and low scoring.
Cant believe NBA has gone where it is now.

When the Nuggets were in the heat of a three team playoff race for the final spot, Melo stepped up his game. He averaged around 25 points per game since the end of February, hitting clutch shots and stepping up as the offensive leader on a team headed to the playoffs.
That to me is the difference in the two players at this point: Melo seems to elevate his game when it matters the most. He did it during the one year at Syracuse and he did it within the last few weeks while helping the Nuggets to the playoffs.

Wrong answer,
he was the SG not PG, only for the first 5 to 10 games was he a PG, he also played D something Mello is not great at

Every game I watched of the Cavs, Lebron was bringing the ball down the court for the majority of his time on the court. If not him, than McInnis or Wagner would come and he would switch to the 2 on occasion. He's even listed as a PG at ESPN.

Lebron really didn't start playing SG until the trade that brought Jeff McInnis from Portland. In the 31 games that McInnis played PG, the Cavs were 20-11. Up until the trade, Lebron played alot of point guard, definitely more than 5 or 10 games.
