Now, I'm not a Caps fan...but hasn't their problem for the past few years been that they get one "star" player and they have no supporting cast. Like Jagr or Bondra?

Again, I'm pretty igornant of the Caps situation (Flames fan...which is FINALLY paying off)...but from the little I've seen they are going to need a lot more than one hot draft pick.

FWo the thing was they had really NO stars. Before Jagr it was a team of pluggers and great role players. Bondra was a very good guy but could not carry the team himself like Jagr was supposed to do. But Jagr flopped.

I can't wait for Overchkin. The kid is going to be a stud and a superstar. I do hope though that if there is a season next year the Capitals suck again and get the top pick. Sydney Crosby enters the draft next year and this kid is unbelievable

And another thing. The minor league system the Caps have is incredible. Loaded with terrific prospects in particular at goalie. However there is no true superstar. Overckin can be that super star and the Caps have 3 picks in the 1st round this year.

It rates the Caps farm system number 2 behind Montreal. Hopefully this time it pans out because in 1996 the Caps had the number 1 system with guys like Bulis, Svejvoski, Zednick, Volchkov, Baumgartner, etc.
