Evidence is here now, Rip in Detroit, Stack here. Kwame still has hope but most of the other moves have been bad. I think his tenure here did more bad then good for the wiz.
What happen with the pick we traded for Haywood??

Not a huge pro basketball guy, but with hindsight who do you think should they have picked number 1 that year? Who's the best player of that class?

The year Kwame was drafted, we should have taken Battier. We needed a solid fundamentally sound player. Not necessarily a star but a reliable player. I don't think anything good will come out of the Jordan era. Even if Kwame develops, I am not going to give Jordan big props. He probably hurt his development for what...2 losing seasons! Even if Stack plays like an All-Star, Rip definitely has more upside.

Best player in the class? Probably Gasol, whom the Wizards never seemed that interested in...

He is good but don't forget Jason Richardson, Zack Randolf, Richard Jefferson, etc...

I agree, and I would probably add Parker to that list. But Gasol is the one imo...

I wouldve made the same move MJ made at the time when we let rip go for stack because at the time i thought stack was better. Can not predict injuries but the work ethic obvious goes in fav to rip. stack is one lazy sorry ass avg baller.
Now like many others when stack was coming out of college i thought he was the man. You just cant predict how a player will turn out in the NBA. youjust have to take the risk and it didnt work our for MJ. Again at the time when MJ made those moves i liked it alot.

Rip is way overrated imho. so far he hasn't shown me anything that would justify the kind of contract he was asking for and got from the Pistons. He still can't stop anybody on defense, his handle is still as suspect as ever and he has absolute outside shot.
It's unfortunate that Stackhouse got injured and hasn't been the same since he came here, but I still think that he's heads and shoulders above Hamilton.

Are you serious? Battier was never a top 10 player in terms of telant! Battier has no chance to be a franchise player. Kwame is already better then him and any g.m would take Kwame over Battier. Are you forgetting that we essentially got Arenas in that draft too? Don't bring up Shane Battier. He's not even the best swing man on his own team (Wells, Miller are better). Shooting guard is the easiest position to fill in the nba. Larry Hughes is a better all around player than Rip anyways. Rip is a better scorer, but Larry is a better defender, 3-point shooter, rebounder, and gets to the line much more frequenctly.

I am not a Battier fan, but at the time, I don't think the Wizards were in a position to take a high school player. At the time, we needed someone with fundamentals and big game experience. We had a two year window with MJ. Not time to rebuild. We should have mortgage our future for those two years. Hey, I think Kwame is ready to break out this year and Battier will end up like the rest of Duke players in the NBA...an afterthought!

Don't give up on Kwamme yet. Last year he showed signs of being a really good player. I know it seems like we say "This is gonna be the year Kwamme turns the corner" and it never is. But I think this year will be different. It was Jermaine O"Neal's fourth year that he got it turned around.
But Pao Gasol is clearly the best player that came out of that draft. Battier certainly wouldn't have lived up to the hype as the number one pick, considering he doesn't even start.

I think Kwamme was the way to go. It is harder to find a good big man in the league than it is to find 1, 2, or 3's. Just give him time. Will be comparable to J. O'neal
