View Full Version : Hayes Trade?

It has been reported that the Wizards would send Jarvis Hayes and their 5th pick to the Bulls for their 3rd pick and some no-name player.

Giving up your first round pick from the previous year to move up two spots seems a pretty dumb to me. But, it would make Luol Deng a possibility, who I think is gonna be a great player.

Doesn't matter, we're cursed!

I think it's a bad move, but it wouldn't surprise me from the Wizards. I want to believe that Ernie knows what he's doing up there but something about working for this franchise makes people stupid.

I think Hayes was one of the few bright spots last year on a team that is young and talented but doesn't know how to put left in front of right. I don't know what good it would do to trade up two spots for inexperience.

The post is reporting that the Bulls have made such an offer but that Lez Boulez are not interested. Jarvis Hayes is one of the few pieces we have to build around.
Regardless, I bet they move the pick.

Let's see the Wiz/Bulletts traded Webber, Big Ben, Rasheed, Rip Hamilton just to name a few this means Hayes probably will get moved. I hope they don't trade him unless they can get a nice big man because this guy has a great future in front of him.

this is a bad trade. hayes has the potential to be a star. deng is good but he is overrated plus he comes from duke.

Deng Jumpshot is nowhere close to being as good as Hayes and if the Wiz trade for anything it needs to be a proven jumpshooter or a big man neither of which Luol Deng is categorized as...Luol is slightly overrated I see him being a good player in the league but not heads and shoulders ahead of Hayes...BAD MOVE ERNIE DONT DO IT!!!!!

I might trade Hayes and the pick to the Clips for the #2 and possibly Wilcox or Richardson. I don't see Hayes as ever being a star, but just a solid pro. I think that he plays a little small when he goes inside but has a solid jump shot.

small forward is one of the biggest underrated positions of need in the league. hayes averaged almost 10 ppg his rookie season. altho he may never be a star, he will be really good.

I would prefer to stay at #5 and take Livingston (if he's there), but if we were to deal up to #2, I would take Howard. I think Howard will be quite good. He is much more polished than Kwame was coming out. As for Deng, I am not quite sold on him.

I agree, depending on who's involved in this trade. I'll pull the trigger. Hayes doesn't impress me and will never be a true star in this league as skinned mentioned. But again, depending on who's involved in this trade, why not. But looking back, I don't really see anyone on the Bulls roster worth giving our 5th pick and Hayes.

What about you guys?

if we do that we dont have to let go of Dixon!

howard is going to be a rasheed-type post player. too much of a coward to stay inside and handle business according to scouting reports. if we draft him, he will be best suited to do his outside thing. if he some how slips to us at no. 5 which is possible, then we will have to see whether he can be a small forward. after all, he used to be a guard.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., June 14 -- The Chicago Bulls have approached the Washington Wizards about trading the No. 3 pick in the June 24 draft and a lesser-salaried player for second-year forward Jarvis Hayes and Washington's fifth overall draft selection, according to sources in Washington and Chicago, who did not want to be named.

The sources said the deal is unlikely to transpire because the Wizards do not plan on moving Hayes, last year's No. 10 pick and a member of the all-star rookie team this season. However, an employee with the Bulls has been doing background checks on Hayes, the source in Washington said. Chicago would have to include a lower-salaried player to make such a deal work under the NBA's trade rules that require salaries be of equal or near-equal value.

Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld said, "I don't comment on conjecture and rumor."

The Wizards have had trade talks with several teams with a source claiming Washington has inquired about Indiana Pacers forward Al Harrington. However, no deals are imminent. [/qo

Hmm, if we trade Jarvis, I'm gonna start an organization whose sole purpose will be to protest the Wizard's ownership.

we can't trade hayes, he will be a star. his j will only get better, because he is a pure shooter. he's one our best athletes, and a killer on defence. DON'T TRADE HAYES! trade down not up because the only safe pick is #1 okeafor.

trade Jeffries, we should have drafted Prince anyway :(

This beyond depressing.

Chances are Deng will be there anyways, and if isn't, trade down. Hayes has too much potential. Not Kwame potential, but potential.

renegade no offense but thx for finally giving a good post.

trust me this trade will not transpire unless it allows us to fill one of our needs so that means it has to include a center such as tyson chandler.

With our history, we'll probably trade him to detroit for Darko.

June-16th-2004, 08:23 PM
one thing wuts up wit darko? how come his ears r pure white? does he put cotton in his ears or something?

Saint Joe
June-16th-2004, 08:27 PM
His ear got infected when he was getting it pierced, and had to wear cotton over the infection.

method man
June-16th-2004, 11:11 PM
hahahahahahahahaha. damn that is funny. did he pierce it himself or something?

but i think if we livingston, howard, and deng are not available at no. 5 we will hav to take a look at trading down a few spots to take either josh smith or podkolzine altho i dont like him. otherwise we can trade down to the mid-first round, get rid of stack along the way, and draft an nba ready center in rafael araujo who is supposed to be like brad miller.

Did I hear someone defending the Wizards front office? Nah, that couldn't possibly be.....:hammer:

the only way i would do this no. 5 and hayes trade for no. 3 and crap player is if dwight howard is guaranteed to be available at no. 3. this happens if the clippers send out signals they dont want him which i believe are true as of now. this is y they r trying to trade out of the no. 2 slot. i think with his handle and perimeter skills, howard can be a rasheed wallace type player. however i could see us using howard as a small forward which altho limiting the driving ability of the position would cause other small forwards to hav a hard time defending howard. if we can we should try to sell the bulls on taking jared jeffries instead of hayes.

if we manage to sign mark blount in FA i would love a lineup of:

PG - Arenas
SG - Stack (if he screws his head back on and if we dont trade him like we all want)
SF - Howard
PF - Kwame
C - Blount

6th Man: Hughes

Main Backups: Jarvis Hayes, Brendan Haywood
in my humble opinion this would be pretty pretty damn scary for any team to face.

if arenas could also learn how to play PG like stephon marbury then this is very very very scary.

hahah yeah meth...i have to this time, its Ernie Grunfield, can't blame the man on the 1st year of his job....lets make fun of him after he makes a bad move, but when he was with the bucks, i didnt see a bad move except hte ray allen thing but i bet he did that only becasue it was his last year as GM there and wanted to screw them over ;)

Until Ernie Grunfield actually makes a bad move, I don't think anyone needs to be giving him criticism for the team's past transgressions.

Luol Deng sucks. It is a very good move.

seand,

i thinky you just expressed my opinion too. Deng seems to be a little overrated after seeing some of the results of his combine workouts for one. He had horrible combine results and according to a team, he was having trouble guarding people. but i think grunny sees something in deng he really likes or he is just throwing a smokescreen.

This is a terrible move, which is why I dont believe it at all.

I thought Hayes really had a very good rookie season when he was healthy, i was really impressed and I think he could grow into a very good player.

Deng has never impressed me, he was inconsistant even at Duke, I dont understand why he is so highly thought of. He had some good games but was so inconsistant and never really impressed me.

That comment is comical. Have you seen this kid play? I gurantee you he will be an upper-echelon player in the NBA. He almost single-handidly took Duke to the final four. He is still young and lacks experience but he will be a great player for years to come. He is not overrated in the slightest, infact, I think he will be one of the top two players to come out of this draft when all is said and done.

The reason for his inconsistency is simple; he was thrust the "leadership" position as a freshman. Not too many players are forced to do that but despite some poor games he responded well and really carried his team. With two years in the L under his belt he will show you why he is drawing so much attention.

deng cant guard small forwards in the nba bcause he lacks athletic ability. plus have you seen his workout numbers at the combine? they suck. i think devin harris had more reps than deng. it seems taht non-athletic players turn out to be role players (case in point: luke walton) while the athletic ones become the stars (case in point: vince carter)

As a UGA grad, stick with Hayes....the guy was and still is the most clutch shooter I have ever seen upfront.

He is a keeper, IMO.
